Great bait trap.
Worked well for saltwater bait. Used chicken leg and caught a bunch. Used a float to keep it off the bottom.

If you have poor grip strength, you'll need help
I bought this minnow trap to use as a snake trap in my chicken coop, having read that these traps work great for that. They don't harm the snakes (and I love my Eastern black kingsnakes), but they help keep them away from the chicken eggs. I had a very sad experience last year with a snake eating one of the ceramic eggs I put in the nest to encourage my dunderheaded hen to lay where she's supposed to. The poor snake died because the ceramic egg would not break up, and it was too far down for me to get the snake to regurgitate it.This trap is well made and sturdy and goes together well, but I would caution you that it takes a good bit of thumb strength to press the closure mechanism that serves to keep the two pieces of the trap held together. I have had surgery on both of my thumb joints (a bone removed), so my grip strength is not as strong as I needed it to be to close the trap up. I managed to do it myself with great difficulty, but it will be very tough to get it back open without help. So if you have hand-strength issues, be sure you have someone around to help you release any snakes you trap...or minnows you catch.

what you see is what you get.
After receiving and testing this trap, I do not believe the poor reviews saying it rusted after a month of use. the coating is thick. if it doesn't close tightly, you have to bend the clamp a little so it stays tightly closed, which you can do by hand. I tested it out on killies and had at least 50 in 5 minutes of being in the water. cant beat it for the price.

Great for snakes!
Have had mine for 5 years now.I use it to catch small/med sized snakes eating my chicken eggs for release elsewhere. Leave it in the coop for the scent, throw an egg in it for bait. Works great! nice and sturdy.Actually coming back for a second one to get some minnows!
