The sponge absorbs too much and can take colour back off scalp if you touch areas already done. I dont use spong any more for scalp, but use it to cover grey hairs at my hairline. Gives even colour. Finger is fine for scalp as easy to put small dots. I tend to work the cream in direction of hair not round and round. It works best on every so slightly moist scalp. Think sweaty scalp moisture not towel dried hair. That is still bit too much water. I have to say once its on it doesnt rub off too easily from scalp. I found I wash hair, put on light covering on sunday, top up on monday for work. I much prefer it than the spray powders u can get which makes hair too dry and clogged up

I have alopecia around my temples. This helped to cover my bald spots perfectly but blended in well with the rest of my hair once I dyed my hair jet black. It is true that it works best when you have a bit of hair to work with but it‘s doing the job for me just fine.
