I have to say that I presently have both of the highest rated brands of rust stain remover here on Amazon in my house at the moment...This, and Rust Stain Remover, (RSR) in the small brown bottle. I bought the RSR a few weeks back to get rid of the ribbons of rust stains I have in my toilet...They are all over the back of it and in the past it has taken scrubbing with tremendous pressure at an awkward angle to get rid of them. It was one of the worst jobs around the house for sure...I RSR does work, but you still need to put a lot of elbow grease to it...I soak a green scrubby pad and then scrub the stains vigorously and very hard, ( and like I said, at the real pain in the butt awkward down and up under the damn bowl that really makes it a tough job). Even though the RSR was working it was still a lot of effort so I decided to try this stuff...I was a little set back to see that this was a powder not a liquid, but as it turned out it is the best thing...The directions on the bottle lead you to just dissolving some of this and putting in the your toilet but that doesn't work for me...My problem is rust stains flowing down from under the rim,.not a general dirty water bowl. So I dissolved a mere couple of tablespoons of this in a small bowl and used the green pad as I always do...To my immense surprise this stuff made the stains start disappearing as soon as I applied it...Faster, easier, and with a lot less scrubbing than the RSR required...Indeed, make that hardly any scrubbing at all. I have actually never had the stains just disappear with the RSR as clearly as this stuff accomplished. For bowls, it suggests raising the water a little over the lines or stains and then just dissolving this in it and letting it sit for a while...I did that too for the faint ring I could see and it worked as well. But as I said, that is not the reason I bought or needed this...But its nice to know it works well for that anyway... In conclusion, as I said before I have both of the highly rated rust stain removers in the house presently. And head to head to head this stuff is much better than the RSR. It literally melts away the rust stains as opposed to their needing hard scrubbing.. And its even a bargain compared to the RSR making it a solid deal...I hate the rust stains in my toilet and have been looking for something like this that works so well and so effortlessly for a long time now...I give it my highest recommendation...

Yes it does remove rust, but I don't necessarily agree that it does it by itself. For me it took a bit of scrubbing and takes more than one application for areas with rust layers... I used it on an area of a toilet which had that.
