I like it
I used this to get that final edge on a very dull camp axe and it worked well. It's easy to use and you can't beat the price for the quality you are getting. It's a good size that's easy to grip and fits your hand well. It really put a sharp edge on my once dull blade

A Whetstone worth it's weight
I've used this puck-shaped whetstone on some of my blades around the shop. I've used it on a lawnmower blade, my camping axe, and a few machetes. I've also used this whetstone on a butcher knife that I had lying around with good results. I'm breaking down this review into sections because it's essential to understand each feature before making your decision. This whetstone has two sides. One side removes much material, and it is good to start your sharpening foundation. I used the higher grit on my lawnmower blade because it had significant nicks and gaps. The higher grit removed much of the damaged material, and I could finish with a more polished and sharp edge on the opposite side. The fact that the whetstone is shaped like a puck makes it portable and easy to use outdoors. Not only does the pick make it portable, but the size of the whetstone makes it easy to sharpen small and more significant projects. I have been able to sharpen my gardening tools, axes, chisels, and some kitchen knives. I used it on an old chopping block knife and brought it back to life. The puck shape makes it for efficient strokes and does the sharpening job.The puck whetstone's performance is appreciated. You can use a super coarse side, allowing you to work from the ground up, meaning you remove damaged material and fine-tune it with the other side. Unlike other whetstones, you can achieve a sharp edge in between by the amount of pressure exerted from the puck to the blade. A lighter circular rub will finish the project to the desired finish. This whetstone is a working man's tool, with no fancy gimmicks, stages, good old-fashioned elbow grease, and strategic strokes to get a sharp edge. The contours of the puck also help you reach hard-to-reach places or achieve a different working edge. You can grip the whetstone without a problem, and the included finger gloves save your skin from being hurt. There is an ergonomic shape to the puck shape that makes holding the whetstone comfortable. Easy to use.The puck whetstone is an excellent sharpening tool; no gimmicks are involved in getting a nice, workable edge. You can achieve a sharper edge with a few drops of water, a sprinkle of olive oil, or WD40. The stone has come in handy and delivered on-the-spot results.

The stone is ok, but the finger guards?
The red and white stone I got is labelled 180 grit on the red face and 320 grit on the white face. I tried putting on the finger cots but it took a lot of fiddling around to get just one on so I didn't try using them. My fingers did feel vulnerable though. In use, I got the feeling that the axe was cutting the stone faster than the stone was cutting the axe. I get quicker results from my bench stone with less wear on the stone. But I did get the axe sharp, so the abrasive is working. The five cut resistant finger cots included with this stone are a good idea but impractical because I doubt people will use them - inconvenient to use. A better freebie inclusion would have been a cut resistant glove, which would be much easier and quicker to put on and use, and offer much better protection.I plan to keep this sharpener and use it for quick 'touch-ups'. But for a more serious rehoning, I will use my bench stone. I will also wear a cut resistant glove.

Sharpens everything
I bought this stone originally to sharpen my hatchet. Ended up sharpening some of my cheap kitchen knives and pocket knives too. Recommend for someone looking for a cheap and easy way to sharpen blades

Only get this if you know really well what you are doing
The finger guards are more of a health hazard than help – if you know what you are doing, you'll instantly throw them away and use something safer, like cut resistant gloves – you are operating sharp implements (per their examples: an axe, a hatchet) with your hands and some force (or at least a lot of patience), and if you slip, sharp things will go where you aren't protected, not on your protected finger tips alone. If you've never used a whetstone, buying this will not teach you how.The "Good Sharpener" picture in the product description is an obvious photoshop lie (or two different axes; check the differences that happened on the non-blade part of the axe when sharpening!), so make what you will of that, and be appropriately skeptical.

My axe is now sharp!
I don't have a basis for comparison, but I just used this to sharpen a dull axe blade - it worked great!* I got this free on my request via Amazon Vine in exchange for an honest review (and taxes). I have needed one for a while and am very glad to have gotten this to try out. Would recommend.
