CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 B+ (B Plus) Starter Kit (32 GB EVO+ Edition, Official Black Case)

I saw announcements about the new Rsspberry Pi 3B+ and decided to buy one. I looked for kits to get started with and decided to get the CanaKit. I retired from IT several years ago and just want to stay somewhat current. I spent my career working on different computer systems, but only had a short time using Unix based systems, so the Pi seemed like an inexpensive way to get more experience with Linux based systems. I am interested in learning Python and Ruby programming also.I enjoy this little SBC (single board computer) quit a bit and am glad I got the CanaKit because it included the basics to get started using the Pi. The price is slightly lower than buying the individual peices, but made it easier to shop. I would recommend this kit to anyone getting started with the Pi.

Great response time, shipped quick. The SD card image was unbootable, but I was able to flash another image and get it working within 10 minutes or so. CanaKit was very responsive when I emailed support.My only complaint is that the included instructions for the heat sinks are less than good. You don’t need to put a heat sink on the Broadcom chip in the 3b+.If you’re looking at using this as a network tap be aware that the Ethernet port is on a USB2.0 bus and will throttle the network to 100Mbps because of that. Just a heads up.

The fault was amazon not the manufacturer. Amazon advertised 2 very similar kits at the same price. It wasn’t clear that one was an older version which I wound up randomly buying instead of the newer one. Shame on them for not making the distinction clear but shame on me too for not digging deeper

Buying this kit with EVERYTHING necessary made getting the Pi operational a very easy process. (I already had a keyboard/mouse and HDMI monitor. A note to future buyers: the analog sound on the Pi is horrible so you may want to skip the kit's case entirely to avoid wasting $10. Several weeks later I ordered a Hifiberry Digi Std card and their associated case. I also ordered an AC power adapter with an On/Off switch.

CanaKits are nice but didn't find out until after I bought it that it doesn't work with the software I use, Kali Linux, without doing a lot of custom installs that are time consuming. So I purchased an earlier model to use now.

After purchasing two Pi’s from another company (neither one worked so I returned them) I tried one last time, and I’m glad I did. This was easy to set up and I started to use it under a half hour later. I recommend buying this if you are looking to get in to the Pi market!

Everything worked as expected.The provided case is a perfect fit to the included Raspberry Pi 3 B+.When the box is fully closed the Pi seems to get slightly hot but not to a point where I noticed any issue so far.

Good for lab and learning. I will end up probably getting more of them down the road. I probably end up getting my kids one a piece once they get a little bit older.
