Protect documents from fire and water
I got the smallest one called SS102 or .15 cubic ft. It is a good size for documents that can be folded to fit into normal envelopes. It seems very well built, and this small model is still heavy but not too bad. The latches and lock work well. Keep in mind this is NOT designed to be hard to break into like a normal safe, it is mostly just to protect from fire and water. It could probably be opened in seconds with an angle grinder or large prybar. So if you are looking for something to protect from theft you would want a different product entirely. This is mostly just for environmental hazards. It's important to put some dessicant pouches into an airtight safe like this with your documents, otherwise they can be ruined by trapped moisture since the safe is completely sealed. Without dessicant pouches it can get mildew inside. It would probably be a good idea to use the color-changing dessicant pouches so you can tell when they need to be switched out or recharged. I also learned from reading the manual that the safe is supposed to be stored laid flat, not standing up. I am guessing because it survives fires better that way. You also have to know that most likely this is only good for protecting paper from fire, not digital media like flash drives, as paper tolerates a lot higher temps than things like flash drives would. The most surprising thing to me is that Airtags (and the Android equivalent Moto Tags) will read just fine while inside of the safe; it does not seem to block the Airtag signal. My one main gripe about this safe is that the keys are obnoxiously designed: they have a plastic handle which makes them more bulky on a keyring, and the keyring hole is offset to one corner rather than being in the middle of the key which makes them hang weird on the keyring. So the keys could be improved, but otherwise it seems like a good design.

Protective but Heavy
SureSeal by FireKing SS104-A is a briefcase like fire resistant protective case that is the right size for letter and legal sized documents. Pros: - Easily accommodates letter and legal sized documents. - It appears to be sturdy. - It is heavy, which means, it has sufficient material inside to ensure the contents remain safe for a reasonable amount of time. - It closes well. - The fit and finish is good. - The lid has a compressed air delay mechanism to prevent the lid from slamming onto someone’s fingers, but for this to work, the lid must be opened completely. (N.B.) Cons: - The keys are made of metal but the grip is made of some kind of plastic with a loop and it seems that loop can easily break. - It is not as easy to carry about because it is very heavy. See pictures. Overall: It is recommended and the manufacturer should supply all steel keys.

This safe is perfect for protecting important papers and valuables from fire and water damage; its not meant for anti-theft.
I carefully researched safes and found that there are basically three main categories: fire safes meant to protect documents and media from fire damage; gun safes meant to store weapons safely; and safes meant to protect items against theft. Fire safes are rated by how long they can protect contents from fire at certain temperatures and good ones are UL rated. Anti-theft safes are rated by how long it takes for a professional to crack the lock and the quality of the materials used to contract the safe. Of course, there are safes that perform two or more of these functions but they tend to be fairly expensive ($1,000 +). With that in mind, I give this four stars because it is UL rated to withstand an hour of 1,700 degree fire and to be submerged in water for 48 hours; it fits legal sized paper and could probably accommodate two reams of paper stacked. As others have noted its heavy (due to the materials used for the fire rating) and the lock is literally something that would be found on an Ikea shelf. However, since its meant to protect against fire and isn't meant to serve as anti-theft safe there isn't much point in a better lock (its portable - a burglar could simply walk off with it). It's perfect if you need a place to put your passport, birth certificate, small family heirlooms, etc. that will keep them from being damaged in a fire and that you can pick up and take with you during a hurricane evacuation.

Très bon produit. Très solide. Convient pour de petits articles.

This is a heavy and robust fire safe and met my expectations. I needed the legal size interior to meet my recipient's expectations and this was the only one I could find. Though expensive, the fire and water ratings are excellent and, if you have moderate strength, the whole thing is portable.

I chose FireKing over other brands because the FireKing has two latches (independent of the lock) that securely close the lid. There is an O-Ring gasket that seals the lid to the box so should keep a waterproof seal. It has a secure quality feel. The first unit I received had a cracked case (see photo) but Amazon was easy to work with for a replacement. I mention this so that you will check yours carefully when it arrives.
