Bought, they looked good quality. Read an article about power adapters often being a point of failure.... Bought a new modular PSU instead. Cost of these splitters was considerably cheaper. The splitter fitted and worked fine during the few days I tried it, and would of probably survived my usage anyway. So give it a go... Worst case scenario, you now have some backup options.

I needed a 10 pin cable for my new gpu, and my psu is very difficult to get to (it would require a full dismantling of my PC), so finding these cables that I could just plug into the existing 8 pin connector, for cheaper than the cable I would of had to buy and then spend a couple of hours getting installed was a life saver, and on top of that, you get two of them, absolute bargain.

When I saw these come up, I figured that they'd be a neat compact swap out for the plain, flat black PCIe cables I have running from my PC power supply to my nVidia Gefore 660Ti, which has two 6 pin power connectors. It's not until I pulled off the side panel of my PC that I realised that these cables are extensions/splitters and the single 8-pin connector is the wrong gender to plug directly into my PC power supply. That's a shame - the cable would have reduced the rats nest and improved airflow. More fool me for not reading the product description.... In fairness to me, the product description further down states : "Simply connect the 8-pin connector to your PSU and the 2x 6-pin or 8-pin connectors to your GPU"...hmmm Just for sanity's sake, I cross checked with another PSU, this time an OCZ 650W. Same deal, wrong gender for the PSU end of the cable.. So, the cable itself is nicely enclosed within a mesh. The 6+2 plug holds the '+2' part very securely. If your graphics card has two 6 pin sockets, the '+2' part can be slid off and moved aside to allow connection of each of the 6-pin plugs into the sockets on your graphics card. NOTE, as supplied, this cable extension basically acts as an 8-pin PCIe to twin 8-pin PCIe splitter. The industry standard power rating for an 8-pin PCIe plug is 150 Watts and the standard for a 6-pin is 75W. If your graphics card requires more than 150W, it's probably inadvisable to try to pull that power through this single 8-pin to twin 8-pin splitter. I can't imagine anyone enjoying the smell of burning wires etc.... In summary, a well made pair of PCIe cable *extensions* but beware of power rating.

The product is two 22cm (cable to cable, excluding the connectors) PCI-E power splitters, each has 8 pins in, 8 pins or 6 pins out. The remaining 2 pins can be slid off the connector if required. The construction is consistent of other CableMatters products that I've reviewed before -- being of a good quality and reasonable price. The one thing that looked a bit odd on these was the cable diameters, which measures at 2mm across the diameter of the insulator. I checked the power cables from a 1.2KW ThermalTake power supply and its cables also measured the same 2mm across the insulators, so unless someone is playing with thick insulator, thin conductors, then I stand corrected that they looked a bit thin. The cables are protected in nylon braid and each end of the braid is prevented from fraying with a piece of heat shrink tubing. However in my cables, the heat shrink has not been full shrunk and is still movable. It still does its job, but a slightly thicker heat shrink tube with a bit more heat would be better. I wouldn't consider daisy chaining two of these cables from the power supply and I would ensure that each comes direct off a power supply cable, hence ensuring the shortest path for power delivery to the downstream device, after all the purpose of the dual connectors is to get more power onto the target device, so that it operates a maximum performance.
