Effective gel eye mask. Straps composition a bit uncomfortable. Only cooling.
For the most part, we like this cooling eye mask. It uses a thin gel pad, so weight is not an issue. The fabric around the gel does feel nice on the face. However, the strap is somewhat hard/stiff and a bit uncomfortable. The soft fabric portion is about 10 inches in length. When I wore it, the straps still hit the temples. The photo of the eye mask on a model is misleading, giving the impression that the soft fabric would extend over the ears. This eye mask can only be used for cooling, apparently. There is no mention of heating the mask for a warming effect. This doesn't affect the rating, but it would have been a nice aspect if the gel mask could be used in a cooling or warming manner. The eye mask is soft, and does conform to the face. It does a decent job of blocking light. I will note that the eye mask in thinner than dedicated block out eye masks. The gel pad acts as a barrier to light through the mask material, but a user might have light leakage due to the manner of coverage.Based on these observations, the cooling gel eye mask receives a 4 star rating.

comfortable cool eye mask
This eye mask has a gel pad that feels nice and cool for about 15 minutes or so depending on how much body heat one gives off that heats it up eventually. The fabric that sits on your face is very soft and smooth. It reminds me of the fabric used for moisture wicking activewear. The coverage over the eyes is good enough to me. if you have your eyes closed it's pretty much pitch black. If you have your eyes open, some light leakage could be seen from the nose area. The velcro stick of the band is very strong, so I wouldn't expect it to come off at all during use. The band itself is kind of stiff, so the only real stretch comes from the fabric part that sits on your face. That said, the band didn't bother me at all since it was just sitting against the hair on the back of my head.

Would be comfortable if not for strap
There are some things I really like about the Technogel Eye Mask with Cooling Core, but there are also some things I’m less fond of.The fabric is very soft against my skin, it’s quite comfortable. It’s like the moisture wicking material in many athletic clothes, it has that same slick, soft feel. That texture works against it in one way though. The mask slides some around the inserted cooling core and I have to reposition it properly. I’m hoping the fabric holds up. The edges where the cool pack is inserted are unfinished. Hopefully that won’t be a problem with continued use and washing. (yes, the mask can be washed, just remove the cool pack first)Though the front part of the mask is soft and comfortable, the strap is not. I absolutely hate the strap. It's stiff, it hurts my ears and intensifies noise as I move my head. The thick Velcro is uncomfortable behind my head if I lay on my back. The Velcro is strong and holds the mask securely in place, but truly that’s all the strap has going for it.The gel is soothing and cool at first. It felt really good on my eyes, helping me relax and fall asleep. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to chill it before using, there were no instructions telling me to. I figured it was supposed to be like the pillows that have a gel core. They help keep you cool as you sleep, but you definitely don’t chill them. Since the gel inside this mask is a fairly thin layer, it warms after being on a few hours. I woke up four hours after falling asleep and while it was still comfortable, it was no longer cool. I was curious how the mask would do if I chilled it ahead of time, so the following night I placed it in the fridge for a couple of hours before I went to bed. It felt wonderful, very relaxing to my tired, irritated eyes. The cool effect lasted a bit longer too, but of course it still warmed up since it was touching my warm face. This mask is not completely light blocking, so this isn’t the best choice if you need that feature. Also, since it’s designed to have the cool gel resting against the eyes, you can’t open and close your eyes freely as you can in a mask with molded cups. This mask has some good features. I’d probably use it more if it wasn’t for the miserable strap.****About me: Integrity is very important to me. Reviews I've posted will be from items I've had direct contact with. Cooling, until it isn't
I think that this Technogel Travel Eye Mask is great for short naps in the recliner, or to help alleviate sore eyes and headaches. It is good at cooling my eyes for a short amount of time. The gel is very good at that. Unfortunately, if work for any extended period, the gel warms up from body heat and is excellent at retaining that heat, so it just turns in to a sweaty heat pack. The gel pack can NOT breathe, so the mask does not breathe. The shape of the mask lets a lot of light in for me, so it's not capable of blocking out all light to aid sleep. The velcro strap is not well-designed. It isn't soft and stretchy enough for me and I don't like that it can only really attach at the back of my head and requires the wide strap to go over my ears.I think if you are looking for a mask to cool your eyes while taking a short rest, and have a small-ish sized head, then this might be right for you.I like a mask that is cool and comfortable to wear overnight and this just isn't it.

Slim gel cooling eye mask, light blocking is not great.
This mask is slim and made of a breathable jersey fiber, and has a gel insert that is cooling on the eyes, and a nice weight to help fall asleep especially during travel. The mask does rest on the eyelids so if you prefer the concave style, this might not be as comfortable. The cooling gel is nice but it would be even nicer if cooled down in the refrigerator. The strap in the back is pretty wide and doesn't catch too much on hair, but I wish it was a little longer as I only have about an inch overlap when I get it to a comfortable setting. The main issue with this mask is that it lets in light through the nose area. There is a cut out for the nose, but since the mask is thick it does not stick to the nose area, letting in quite a bit of light from there. I don't think it would work as a day time sleep mask unless you did not mind the light seeping in. On the plus side, since the mask is thick no light seeps through the fabric.
