Brother makes excellent products - buy their printers!
I cannot recommend this printer enough. After a couple of years of struggle with an HP printer, which for some reason would not connect with the wifi about 75% of the time (meaning I always had to restart the whole printer anytime I wanted to print), I finally got completely fed up with it. I had heard nothing but good things about Brother printers so I researched them and finally landed on this one. I like that it's a laser printer (the cost of printer ink for the inkjet printer was another thing that was killing me). I set it up and it's worked like a dream. It only prints in B&W which is absolutely fine with me. Most of the stuff I print only needs to be B&W and if I need color, I still have my HP inkjet, or I just go to Office Max to print. This printer has been super dependable - it's connected to wifi every single time I want to print - I haven't had to restart it once. I still don't know why that was so difficult for the HP printer to do?! The pages print quickly and the print quality is good. It probably holds close to a whole ream of paper. To set it up I had to download an app, which seems standard for printers these days. The app took me through the setup process, so it was pretty easy, and ever since I haven't had to worry about my printer at all! It does what it says on the box! Will only be buying printers from Brothers from here on out. An excellent product and I really want to support companies that make high-quality products that last, instead of products that use planned obsolescence or captive pricing, both of which are unfriendly to consumers. P.S. While I was researching printers I learned that the reason inkjet printers are so cheap because they make it up in the cost of ink. This is why printer ink is so expensive. Apparently the R&D of inkjet printers is actually pretty high, and since the inkjet printers sell at such a low cost, they have to make up the money somehow. The bad thing is that ink for inkjet printers dries out fairly fast, so the ink essentially has an expiration date as well. Laser printers (like this Brother printer) use toner cartridges, which yield many more page prints per cartridge and also don't dry out. When I learned this, trading in my color inkjet printer for a B&W laser printer was a no-brainer. I just dont need to print color that much. Someday I might get a color laser printer, but so far I havent missed not being able to print in color.

Great simple little workhorse.
Love this printer. The last one I had continuously struggled with wireless connection requiring a physical cord in most applications, very frustrating. This one connected flawlessly and continues to perform perfectly. Simple and compact with easy setup. The cartridge that comes with it won’t last long, so order another when you set up. Prints with ease from my Mac computer, iPad and iPhone. Duplexes from the settings with no problems.

Horrible Device. EZPrint Subscription Bricked it
It has an LCD screen the size of a bean with mysterious settings and protocols that are unexplained unless you have a printed manual for the entire settings menu. Do not subscribe to EZ print subscription or you will end up getting their company servers to remotely brick your printer on a whim!!!! I purchased this brand name printer with brand name toner in the starter kit for my mother. My mother subscribed to EZ print, completing all of the appropriate registration, serial number, payment info, and agreements. I guided her on the process and helped set up her printer. It worked fine from Nov. to April. They never sent her the subscription ink she needed next. Then when her starter cartridge ran out within a few months, instead of contacting her or charging her for ink or clarifying what the “free plan” really means, they bricked her printer!!! When Mom called customer service, they told her that her toner was not brand name (forged??!). She then drove into the city (1 hour each way) and spent time looking for brand-name printer toner and spent $50 on the new cartridge to return home in order to fix her printer. The printer did not work after toner replacement. The customer support gave her misinformation!! I checked her toner it’s real Brother. I learned later that EZprint Subscribers must receive Brother toner with a “S” mark on the packaging from the company, and if the cartridge does not have the “S” mark on it, then apparently the machine can be remotely shut down by their servers with error. Printers can be thrown into a deep sleep, can be given multiple connection problems, and continually errors out while demanding subscription toner even when the new brand name toner is inserted!!!! My mother is elderly and does not need this headache when she’s trying to mobile print a 1pager from her iPad. The customer service on the phone to her was appalling, misleading her to think that she had fraudulent toner in this printer. I have 10 years experience in providing IT support and computer science teaching. When I helped her after work, it took 2 hours for me to troubleshoot and research. It became very clear that Beother. Atoned service lied. This was official brand name, Brother toner, but it was just the starter toner “TN” as usual, which runs out quicker than high-yield toner that would be purchased in the second round. I spent over five hours troubleshooting with the tiny bean-sized LCD screen. My AIO Brother printer at home has a nice easy to read LED screen that makes adjusting and diving into settings much easier. I connected my mom’s faulty printer to my laptop by USB and did some troubleshooting using the correct drivers and system software, but the system software they give you for printer management is horribly inept. I really enjoy my brother printers that I have at home. I have two others: one for printing receipts for the business and another all in one printer that is amazing. I have to say that this printer is absolutely the worst brother printer that you can purchase and I recommend two things: 1. Do not ever subscribe to EZ print subscription or you are giving the company permission to remote control your printer like dictators. 2. And do not buy this printer because it has an LCD screen the size of a Bean when you could get a printer with an LED screen that is the size of a Post-it.

Another fine product from Brother
Is an excellent printer. I have use brother printers for years and they have all been good and this one is no exception. It has a small footprint. The wireless printing makes it very convenient and we can put this anywhere we want. In our case, we have in our bedroom closet. The printing speed is extremely fast. It’s a great value for the money. The Wi-Fi set up was quick and simple.

Great printer
Excellent printer—fast, clear output. I have left off a star because it sometimes drops from WiFi and having to reenter the password by scrolling through every letter/number because this printer lacks a keypad is cumbersome.

Good performance for the price
I bought 2 of these printers for different locations. They are both working well without jams, software glitches, ink gumming up, etc. The onscreen WiFi setup is tedious via the limited buttons, but once your initial setup is complete you won't need to mess with it very often. This printer works from setup without much complication; print remotely via your router for most devices. The monochrome laser printout is simple, fast, and very crisp. Cartridges are easy to find and change; there is no hassle as with the HP Instant Ink baloney. Just buy your ink and get up and printing. This machine is portable, but not exactly convenient to carry around all the time. No color printing (and I don't care), but you get fast, clear monochrome performance. Build quality is OK: An all plastic rectangular cuboid with a very simple set of buttons and a small screen ...but that's all I really need for basic print jobs. Good value for the price and sometimes goes on sale. My twin printers are both working without issues to this point.

Simple Setup and it just works right out of box
Back in June of this year I purchased an HP inkjet printer. I will not go too far off topic but it was one of the most frustrating purchases of my life. I bought it because it was a cheap little printer, under $50 and it fit on the bookshelf where I needed to place it, which was a big consideration for the printer purchase, along with the fact that it had to be hooked up wirelessly also. After three days of trying to get it to work with senseless App control HP made me get could not get it hooked up. During the initial setup process out of box - HP setup a password that I did NOT know about and when I reset my internet router it asked me for this password. I was so perplexed and frustrated I could not get past this step. After two days of talking to HP they finally helped me get wireless setup complete. But then the stupid printer broke and made horrible sound when it would try to grab paper. I simply had enough. So I decided to spend more money on this Brother Laser printer. I hate to spend the more money, but I was ready to throw HP printer up against the wall. So to keep my sanity I paid the more money. This Brother printer was easy to setup and easy to connect to my ISP and router. Took no longer than one minute to get to where I could print. This printer is fast and prints without acting like it's going to have a heart attack like the stupid HP crap I had before. So if you do not need color printing this is very good for small to medium workloads. I don't need color printing really so this is very good.

Excellent Small Office Printer
This printer met all my requirements -- small footprint, separate passthrough slot (for labels), 250-sheet paper tray that did not protrude past the front of the printer (that was a Biggie!), plus updated WiFi that works perfectly with my eero mesh network. Prints are fast and of the highest quality. This was a replacement for a 10+ year old Samsung/HP laser printer.
