These things are bright! You can fault locate an issue with fiber cable even in direct sunlight with no problem. This has made my job so much easier. It was worth the $30 to not have to cover a cable to see my company provided vfl flashing under a black tarp. Awesome!!!!

The first set arrived and the laser didn't work at all, the second set I received works most of the time but it seems like there's a short in a connection or something because after day one in my tool pouch working the field and now it's hit or miss on whether it wants to work right away or if I'm trouble shooting the vfl for 10 minutes. I still am unsure why but both lasers have the same issue so maybe just an overall design/build defect.

Right out of the box, this was an incredibly simple tool to use. It does *not* come with batteries, it uses 2x AA, but after installing the batteries, it's obvious it isn't just some dim light attachment.I plugged in a 15ft cable just for testing and it was crazy how bright it was. I have a few 100-300ft runs that I intend to test as well when they are not in use, but I expect it will handle those runs just fine - but I will update if anything unexpected comes up.More than once I have been in a situation where I had cable run but did not have my hardware in yet for testing and this would have eased my mind a lot on verifying the line. It's not the highest end tool like it, but for just a quick check or the ability to locate a cable in a bundle, this tool handles the task - for the price and my use-case, it's a good value!
