Not terrible but not great.
I will preface this by saying ( in my own opinion). Books are always based on the current level of the reader. For me having read mixing secrets for the small studio, I found this to be a difficult read.MY OBJECTIVE OPINIONThere are great tid bits that are dotted throughout the book, and the book is more geared to instrument based mixing as opposed to purely digital based/ electronic genres of music. Which is great if that is what you after.MY SUBJECTIVE OPINIONThe biggest issue I have with this book, is it feels like a long lecture, or monologue where there’s only a small bit of juicy info hidden in the book.I do think the layout of the book is really poor in comparison to something like “mixing secrets for the small studio”.There should be clearer sections offering a step by step approach. Instead as mentioned early you really have to hunt for jewels. For me when you buy a book, that’s just not what you want otherwise you’d search the thousands of free videos and articles already out there.SUMMARYI would return it personally for me in hindsight as I don’t think it ticks enough boxes for the reasons I intended on purchasing it.

traditional mixing and mastering
the book examines mastering and mixing from a traditional studio engineer-style perspective. Still useful in many places, although the parts that focus on mastering for albums on CD are not so relevant as they once were, due to the marginalising of the album by video-on-demand and streaming dominance over contemporary music consumption.

Counterfeit
The publishing details at the front of the book says "Printed in the United States of America on acid-free paper", but the back of the book says "Printed in Great Britain by Amazon". Paper and print quality is appalling, cover curling up as soon as unpacked. Amazon con or third party using POD to sell counterfeit goods? No way of knowing but either way results in the buyer receiving a poor photocopy for the price of the properly printed book as published by Oxford University Press. Content itself is excellent, but Amazon can no longer be relied upon for honesty and integrity. Seek out an alternative supplier.
