Very helpful and timely
Comparing ourselves to others and feeling we are falling short seems to be a plague in the social media age. Of course, insecurity has always been there, but, in a speeded up world, more and more people are wondering if they are really up to the position they've landed in. Dr Jessamy has hit the nail on the head in her new book, giving us ways and techniques to believe in ourselves, despite our natural anxieties, and be more at ease with the inevitable challenges , even failures, that are part of a successful life.I especially liked the ending, where she encourages us to slow down and enjoy the journey and not to be for ever striving for more, more, more. She reminds us of what it is to be a fully rounded human being who is not perfect.I would say there is a good dose of wisdom in this book, from someone who, refreshingly, does not claim to be perfect herself, but has a lot of professional experience to offer. Its tone is supportive and does not lecture, but comes from a position of knowledgeable and caring friend. Dr Jessamy has done her academic research, along with having a lot of clinical experience, but the book speaks on a personal level, mentioning her own struggles with Imposture Syndrome.I especially liked the chapters where she encourages us to look at the bigger picture. We all need reminding of that!

A little repetitive
I’m not one to read and entire book if I don’t find value from it, because there is a lot of value here. Unfortunately parts do seem a little repetitive, but from the perspective of someone not knowing Orr understanding imposter syndrome, this would be a five star read. It provides depth and great examples along with a methodical approach.

Therapy in written form
I was recommended this book by a coach and I'm so glad I bought it. It was a great tool to help me reflect on where I was and why I was there. I related to lots of the descriptions in here and its ability to challenge your thinking was simply fantastic. I cried reading some pages - it really did help me through a difficult time and made me see how I can correct some of the self talk that led me to poor behaviours in the past.

FASCINATING SUBJECT BUT NOT WELL WRITTEN
Fascinating subject and it is important that we understand this common, indeed universal, characteristic. That said, the book is quite repetitive and at times I had to fast forward because it was a bit boring in places. The writer clearly has the expertise on the subject but lacks the writing skills to hold attention. For this reason I feel the book is overpriced.

written in a user friendly way
So I'm still actually working my way through this book, i took on what Dr Hibberd said at the beginning and decided to give each exercise a try and it meant that I've worked my way through this book at a slower pace than I thought I would. I found that some of the exercises were more difficult than others, in that I found what I needed to do hard to do like, and this might sound daft, listing my achievements. I find it very difficult to say when I'm good at something and find it even harder to admit it on paper. I completed exercises like that over time, I had to write some down and then walk away and do something before coming back to add to the list which might not be the way you're meant to do it but it worked for me.I found Dr Hibberd's writing style quite friendly, she gives you a lot of information but in a style that doesn't make it feel like an information overload. I really liked that she gives you some much information on imposter syndrome, like she said getting to know it helps combat it and I found that a really useful way to think about it.So far this has been a really insightful book and I've enjoyed the pace I've taken it at, I'm defiantly going to finish it and quite possibly then read it again after a short break because I always think books like this do better after a second read through to help information and techniques go in.

Great resource, easy read, full of expertise and advice
A pertinent and interesting subject, described and written about in a very easy to understand way. I particularly like the case studies, which are used to provide real life examples of people who have imposter syndrome and ways in which you can give yourself the credit you deserve. I’m sure it happens to most of us, questioning why we’ve gained recognition or been successful. I really recommend this book to help combat those feelings of self doubt and shine a light on your self.Dr Jessamy helps understand why you may be feeling this way and works through techniques in which to counter it.A well written, straight forward, no nonsense book full of expert advice and real life examples.
