Good product from devolo
My son is playing online games through these powerline adapters and he is never complaining about lag or lag spikes. Expensive though.

Not so powerline ...
Powerline always seemed to promise to fix your WIFI distance problems but I have never really been able to get a decent connection through them in my house. But it is always something I come back to and like to test to see if it has improved - for my house though not so much. I presume this is down to the wiring in the house - it is not an 'old' house but in some rooms the powerline adapters just don't work at all.For me this always seems like a good idea but never quite achieves what it promises. I find that to extend your WIFI it is better to have WIFI Range extenders - they may cut your speed but they are more reliable connection wise.

So far, so good
I’m conscious that the only two other reviews so far rate this one-star. One of the reviewers complains of failure after 8 months, the other of unresponsiveness with large volumes of data. It’s far too early for me to comment on longevity but I’ve stress-tested the unit and so far had no problems with responsiveness. I will very definitely come back and update this review if I hit trouble in the future, but so far the kit is performing well, with HD streaming and big downloads running in parallel on my BT Infinity broadband. At least, given the three-year guarantee, any problems that arise will be dealt with by Devolo.Setup is incredibly simple, especially if you want to create a new network at the remote end (ssid will be fixed by the unit and start with 'devolo-'). Setting it up as a wifi extender for your existing network (WiFi Clone, they call it) looks almost as simple but I haven’t tried that yet.I haven’t tested the claimed speeds at the remote end (up-to-300 Mbps using wifi, 500 Mbps with an Ethernet cable). What I did find was that connecting to the Devolo network gave almost identical download times to connecting to the 2.4 GHz wifi on my BT Home Hub 6 router (the Devolo only offers 2.4 GHz). For example, downloading a couple of HD movies in parallel from the iPlayer took 22 minutes on both networks. It’s good to have the push-button security, also passthrough for the mains socket.I’m happy, so far. I’ll throw a lot more data at it to see if I can break it, also try using an Ethernet cable, and see how well it works as an extender. I need to test the range too – initial impression is that it’s at least as good as the 2.4 GHz range on my Home Hub 6.In the meantime, four stars, one being deducted for the high price (currently £118).PS Note that all the reviews of the supporting My Devolo app award just one star in the iOS app store, so I haven’t bothered installing it. I haven’t tried the Devolo Cockpit app on Windows, probably don’t need it with just a simple 2-unit network.

Good so far
I have seen that some people have experienced issues with this over time but so far they have been working fine for me. The connection speed is fast and it was pretty quick/easy to set up.

Bit of a faff but...
These are a bit of a faff to set up and sometimes they need to be reset as they drop out but if you want to extend your wifi then they are a good option. Just be aware that you will need to spend time finding the optimal position for them and occasionally fiddle with them to restore connection when they drop out.

Easy to set up - compatible with the older models
I’ve used Devolo power LAN sets for several years - they make things very easy. So long as your wiring is broadly cohesive its amazing how effective they are at expanding WiFi and linking parts of the house without LAN cables. It’s easy to set up either with an old set or as new - just follow the steps and they will either set up a new network or join an existing one automatically. If you do want to do it yourself then you can as well.Performance is very good and the WiFi range is acceptable - with options available to tweak it.Ive not yet had one fail in around 7 years of use. The only downside is they are very chunky. The ports used to be on the bottom which i much preferred but have been on the top for awhile now - which isn’t very aesthetic.
