Every notice how high the shelves are in the grocery store. Many times I have had to look for a tall person to retreive a package off the top shelf. No more. I watched another shortie (personal shopper) as she casually pulls an item out of her pocket, extends it, and with great aplomb reach to the top shelf to get a package! I asked what it was and where did she get it. As soon as I got home I ordered one. Love this gadget. Fits in my pack jeans pocket, Works great. Highly recommend for those who are height-challenged, like me.

Just got to use it first time! Had to reach something from top shelf at grocery store...wouldn't have been able to get it without this handy tool!!

I like little gadgets like this, which is probably the reason why my toolbox and junk drawer (you DO have a junk drawer, don't you?) are full of them.This one caught my eye because of the hook end. Beyond that, it's unremarkable for a telescoping retrieval tool. It's more compact than any other such tool that I own, which isn't necessarily a drawback, as some jobs are perfectly well served by this size. But the smaller diameter and thinner gauge metal also means that it's fairly fragile. Treat it gingerly and you should be OK. If you try to pick up something a little heaver with the hook end, don't hold the tool horizontally or you will easily break it.The magnetic end is not particularly strong. It is strong enough to support its own modest weight in a horizontal position when fully closed and placed against, say, the side of the refrigerator -- but that's about it. Again, that's probably just fine for picking up the kind of small items that this tool is designed for. It's a little awkward to hold the skinny/hook-end of telescoping pole when using the magnet side; usually you're holding the fat end and the magnet is on the skinny end.My biggest issue is the cost, which was about $10 when I ordered it. I have other telescoping magnet-end tools that are at least twice as heavy that I picked up at HF for a fourth the cost of this one.2.5/5 stars. There's nothing wrong with the tool itself other than the value. If you treat it carefully and only use it to retrieve light items, I think it has some value, and the hook end makes it good for retrieving certain things that may be harder to reach with tools that lack the hook.

Comes in handy for hard to reach places.

I ordered this to aid when working on cars eco especially under the hood.Sometimes you drop a rag or paper towel and it’s in a spot that would be very difficult to reach, this can save that frustration.Also has a magnet on the end that will pick up lighter weight tools, like small sockets, etc.Easy to store as it is expandable.Price was a good value and I would order again.
