I was skeptical about aftermarket fobs. I purchased it for a '23 Explorer that had only one key. I used Forscan to program the fobs. It worked first time, and we saved about $300.00 by not paying a locksmith or taking it to a Ford dealer. They look just like the Ford fob except it doesn't have the Ford logo. I can deal with that for the savings.

I lost one of my fobs for my company car and I would’ve had to pay for a second one. This was a great replacement option.

New (to me) 2023 Explorer came with one remote. Bought these and Ford programmed the first (for ~$100), and (with two programmed keys) I programmed the second. No issues. Beats what Ford and the locksmith were going to charge.

I wanted a 3rd key fob for my '22 Mustang convertible. Since I have 2 working keys, I was able to use the "official" self-programming procedure as described in the owners manual. Result: Remote works (lock/unlock/trunk). I can start the car, but only when the key fob is in the programming slot under the cup holder. Locking/unlocking by touching the door handle does not work Conclusion: It works for emergencies, but it's not 100%. For that, and for the fact I did not need a locksmith, I give it 4 stars. Note: I could not program the 2nd key, because I had previously programmed another key fob that was recognized only for starting the car while in the programming slot but did not work for locking/unlocking from the outside. This fob now occupies the #3 authorized key for the car. Ford only allows 4 keys per vehicle.
