What size are the trash bins shown in the sales photo?

I'm not sure what size cans those are but here are the interior dimensions: Interior width = 49", depth (back to front) = 28.25" and height = 40" at the rear (lowest point). Different brands of 48 gal cans are slightly different in size, but most of them seem to be fine on the width and height with the depth being the iffy figure. The best bet would be to measure your cans (or the cans you want to get) and make sure they'll fit before ordering this bin. Hope this helps.

What should I put under the shed if I have it outside?

I have mine on asphalt on side of house , but if putting on grass area just use some patio blocks but level of ground surface first
