Extremely SLOW
Device extremely slow, takes 10mins to really get going, new functions might take another 5 to complete, lots of hang time, full integration with Google also means word documents aren't seamlessly translated to Google docs and back with formatting retained, not good for work, better for light online only work. Wish I could return. Have one unboxed and unused but have passed the return date.

Not premium quality
For this price I expected something really premium. This felt flimsy and the battery life was average. 7-8 hours usage and 4-5 hours watching videos. Returned.

Hard to Find Any Faults
REEAAAALLLLLYYYYY like this one! I'm a veteran of a LOT of laptops over many years, both from work and personal. I wanted: lightweight, good screen, good battery life, good speed, above average RAM, good quality. This one delivers on ALL of the above. It doesn't get hot on your lap, even after 3-4 hours of constant use. I've never had a laptop do that, and it's welcome. The battery life is also FANTASTIC- I've gotten an ACTUAL 10+ hours out of it, which is just crazy. I expected maybe 8 even though they said 10, but it's actually 10.I've never lived full-time with a Chromebook before, but as it turns out there have been no worries. When I haven't known how to do something I just Google it, I've never failed to find a solution to my problem. It sometimes requires an app to be installed, and sometimes that means an Android app rather than a Chrome native one. That sounds like a pain, but in reality it works really well. (I've also enabled the Linux on it, called "Crostini." It's not quite full Linux, but it runs most apps I've tried. Just gives you another option if you want it. I even ran Linux Firefox, and it works fine.)I really like the gestures in Chrome OS, and the keyboard and trackpad on this C434 are both excellent- better than 90% of laptops, seriously.Negatives? The one thing I haven't liked is the backlit keyboard. In low-light but not dark environments (say a dim room), the backlighting makes the keys harder to see, so I end up turning it off. I can turn it up to bright, but it doesn't help me see the keys, it just seems to add more glare. I haven't run into that problem before. As with almost all current laptops, you have to get a dongle to connect external monitors. I got one with USB-C power distribution (PD), Ethernet, HDMI, and 3 USB ports. Works great, and as a bonus it works with Dex on my Samsung phone too. It gives the Chromebook HDMI output to my 27" monitor, works fine (except for multiplying the cabling).Overall I would really recommend this Chromebook. Even though it seems expensive for a Chromebook, you're getting a great keyboard/trackpad, good screen and touchscreen, quality construction, plenty of speed and RAM, a card slot, just everything to make the whole experience very smooth. Oh, and the hinge- well it works great in any orientation, tablet mode, tent mode, or laptop mode.I even used it for a week on vacation where I would sit outdoors by the pool, and I never had trouble seeing the screen. I can't say that about many of the laptops I've used previously.Just overall a really nice piece of hardware, that runs Chrome OS perfectly, and it looks good doing it.

Buy now before price goes up or they run out of stock
I have to stress I seldom write reviews. But since I spent quite some time researching for my next Chromebook, I thought I could share some insight hoping to be helpful to future buyers.Considering its charm, build quality, and capabilities this Chromebook embodies the definition of a purchase with tons of value. I received it this morning and I have only used it for a few hours but I could not be happier. I got the 8GB version just to make sure i never have to deal with performance problems while multitasking. An observation: the price fluctuates radically. I bought mine on Amazon for 880 $ CAD. A couple of days later it rose to over $1000. As i write this the 8GB version is offered for $807.75.You will see a lot of opinions online about the many aspect of this Chromebook. The worst characteristic of it in my opinion is the weight. It is surprisingly heavy but I can tolerate that because of everything else it has to offer. Some say the keyboard and the trackpad are a problem. I am OK with both. Yes, the trackpad is not glass but it is not bad. The keyboard works well too.Overall I could not reasonably subtract any stars because of the great value of this machine. Even if it lacks in some areas it has so much more to make up for it. And it is beautiful with these tiny bezels so I do not think anyone would regret buying it.

Touchpad delay
I dont mind the product a lot but the fact that the touchpad/fingerpad has a significant delay with the pointer,This means I spend too much time correcting and moving back and forth to get the pointer to where I want it.Ruins the whole experience of the laptop without a mouse.Connecting a Bluetooth mouse has better responsiveness as would be expected from the inbuilt touchpad.Disapointing.
