A powerful chromebook that gives you flexibility and portability
When researching chromebooks I found some reviewers picked on the screen brightness and keyboard. I have an ASUS C302 which has served me very well for the past 4 years. In spite of some of the online reviews I decided to purchase this model. I'm very satisfied with it. The screen is plenty bright enough and the keyboard is very nice to type with. I purchased an ASUS USI stylus for it and found it works very well as a drawing tablet. The fact it has 16Gb RAM means I've been able to run linux and crossover windows. This allows me to run the few specialty windows program I need to as well as some great linux applications. At work we use G-Suite and I've found using this chromebook with G-Suite provides me with the best experience because of integration. I connect it to a USB docking station with 2 monitors and a wireless keyboard which also works flawlessly. It's fast, flexible, quiet and has great battery life. It's also very light so I can take it anywhere with me. I pair it with my android phone with an unlimited data plan so I can connect online from anywhere. It is a bit pricey for a chromebook but if you need USI stylus support, the ability to run android, windows, and linux applications and a device which is light and portable I highly recommend this chromebook. It's solidly built and will provide many years of service.

loving my new chrome book
Does everything I ask (zoom mtgs, email, webpages, Youtube) quickly & without a hitch. Love the style, seems solid but very light weight. Nice balance of size - small enough for my day bag, large enough to easily see screen. Keyboard can be awkward when long typing - I think some of the bottom keys are too sensitive as I seem to accidentally hit them fairly often. Battery life excellent. Touch screen very sensitive (in a great way).

Ultra lightweight, maximized size of keyboard and screen
I added a picture to compare it against a 13 inch MacBook air. This one is lighter and has the same foot print with a bigger screen. I actually am graduating from a 13 inch dell Chromebook, which is bigger and heavier, yet using the Asus, the keyboard and screen feels like I'm working on a larger laptop! I've been very happy using Chromebook for the ease of carrying and low maintenance. I only bought this one as I needed to pass the dell to my online student. I did my research to buy what I needed to work from home and to not worrying about buying another one in a couple of years. I'm very happy with my purchase! It's a very nice laptop.

Nice machine, worth the price
Have had this now for a few weeks and hasn't disappointed! Once the initial charge was done that took 3hrs as recommended it was ready to use, no extra set up required. Couple minor issues-no number keypad, and its smaller size takes some getting use to the keyboard. Battery lasts me about 3 days, very light user, don't play games or stream music so that may vary with the usage. It starts up quick as well as opening webpages. Touch pad is very sensitive, however, I like using a mouse so purchased one; do use both. Had some difficulty setting up to print though, unless you have a cloud ready printer that will pick up automatically it still is possible. I found some helpful videos and use our current laptop as a printer server, very easy to set up. Overall very happy with it.

Hard to Find Any Faults
REEAAAALLLLLYYYYY like this one! I'm a veteran of a LOT of laptops over many years, both from work and personal. I wanted: lightweight, good screen, good battery life, good speed, above average RAM, good quality. This one delivers on ALL of the above. It doesn't get hot on your lap, even after 3-4 hours of constant use. I've never had a laptop do that, and it's welcome. The battery life is also FANTASTIC- I've gotten an ACTUAL 10+ hours out of it, which is just crazy. I expected maybe 8 even though they said 10, but it's actually 10.I've never lived full-time with a Chromebook before, but as it turns out there have been no worries. When I haven't known how to do something I just Google it, I've never failed to find a solution to my problem. It sometimes requires an app to be installed, and sometimes that means an Android app rather than a Chrome native one. That sounds like a pain, but in reality it works really well. (I've also enabled the Linux on it, called "Crostini." It's not quite full Linux, but it runs most apps I've tried. Just gives you another option if you want it. I even ran Linux Firefox, and it works fine.)I really like the gestures in Chrome OS, and the keyboard and trackpad on this C434 are both excellent- better than 90% of laptops, seriously.Negatives? The one thing I haven't liked is the backlit keyboard. In low-light but not dark environments (say a dim room), the backlighting makes the keys harder to see, so I end up turning it off. I can turn it up to bright, but it doesn't help me see the keys, it just seems to add more glare. I haven't run into that problem before. As with almost all current laptops, you have to get a dongle to connect external monitors. I got one with USB-C power distribution (PD), Ethernet, HDMI, and 3 USB ports. Works great, and as a bonus it works with Dex on my Samsung phone too. It gives the Chromebook HDMI output to my 27" monitor, works fine (except for multiplying the cabling).Overall I would really recommend this Chromebook. Even though it seems expensive for a Chromebook, you're getting a great keyboard/trackpad, good screen and touchscreen, quality construction, plenty of speed and RAM, a card slot, just everything to make the whole experience very smooth. Oh, and the hinge- well it works great in any orientation, tablet mode, tent mode, or laptop mode.I even used it for a week on vacation where I would sit outdoors by the pool, and I never had trouble seeing the screen. I can't say that about many of the laptops I've used previously.Just overall a really nice piece of hardware, that runs Chrome OS perfectly, and it looks good doing it.
