Electro-Harmonix Micro Metal Muff Distortion Pedal

I am not a metal head. I like to play neoclassical solos with a wah attached to this guy (used as a manual phaser/ expression pedal). I keep the distortion at a reasonable level to avoid buzz and to come out in the mix with my bands as lead guitar. The tone knob can get you past the need of a treble/ mid/ bass knob set, but it makes it hard to contour the level and brightness of this pedal with your others. My bandmates avoid this pedal because of it being too noisy, but I cant think of a better sound with the setting I keep on it. Its great for cutting through the mix, and it has a great, crisp lead sound. If you wish to crunch out a metal rhythm this pedal with serve you just fine as well. Much better, in my own opinion, than a boss metal zone. I would say I would rather have the larger version of this pedal, but I have no more space on my primary pedal board for one. Also, I can still manage to squeeze a 6 Band EQ pedal (MXR's version) on my board to tend to my sound in a more precise manner. That guy will run you about 60 bucks, but is not needed if you have already found the sound you want out of this guy. Great price, great pedal, great sound, perfect for metal and neoclassical soloing.

I have distortion metal pedals that I really like (which I shall not name) that were totally blown away by this guy. You can't really appreciate it until you put it side by side against other metal pedals. The sound is just fantastic. Even though it doesn't have much of an EQ the engineers at EHX figured out what most modern metal players want in their sound. Don't get me wrong, it's tweakable to the extent that it can give you a late 70's to late 80's metal sound, but it will also give you a more extreme (sorta rectified) type metal sound. All this through a solid state Tech 21 Trademark 30. One thing that really stands out is how alive it sounds. It has a full sound ala the Big Muff. It's hard to explain in words what only your ears can tell you, but if you check out some YouTube clips many of them do justice to how it sounds. The sounds it produces envelopes the surrounding environment. You won't be disappointed by it if you're looking for a heavy/doom/thrash/groove metal sound. This pedal makes me want to play the guitar more.

I just don't care for the sound the Metal Muff produces.I purchased a MXR Fullbore Metal the next day, and LOVE it !!

I'm not sure I would base my career around the sound of this but if you need instant metal from any clean channel amp buy this. On my amp Blackstar the bass isn't able to go high enough for this pedal for my desire so I deducted one star since the pedal has no bass control. But when you buy this micro you knew this going in. The sound still crunches real cool and it's worth a buy but I suggest the mothership metal muff model.

Ive been wanting a distortion pedal from electroharmonix for some time now and i finally decided to go with this micro metal muff. I got it and was very very pleased. Although it seems pretty dissapointing when i first got it (for like 15 minutes) since i didnt know how to get that sound i was craving. After experimenting with the knobs i finally got it and now realized how great it was. This pedal has a wide wide range of distortions, ranging from an almost blues-y sound to an all out metal roar. (or scream depending on the top boost settings) I plan to buy one of these for a friend. This is one pedal that every metalhead should have!

Just got this today, and I'm just gonna put it like this. I was blown away by the quality and the way this pedal reshaped my amps sound. I went from a muddy, bass filled mess to a crunchy metal tone within seconds. It's extremely easy to use and I've already found the sound I've been longing for. I highly suggest this for any metal guitarists and for the price it can't be beat! If you don't own one, get one.

I heard a lot of great reviews for this pedal and I decided to get one and try it out for myself. I love the sound, it has a great range of distortion, and its a pretty cool looking thing too. Love the Metal Muff!

THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD DISTORTION PEDALS ON THE MARKET. BUT ONLY A FEW MAKES IT TO THE HALL OF FAME. EVEN FEWER SHINE THRU. TO ME, EHX-MMM (i call it my M3) is it: it gives the players the EXTREME OF EXTREMES. LOVE IT.

This pedal never lets meDown; had the full sized one last time, and now this one. To better fit my stripped down rig. Sounds just as Heavy as its big brother!!! Oh yeah it does.
