Goddard's Silver Polishing Cloth for Jewelry, Remove Tarnish on Plated or Sterling Silver, Gold, Antiques, and Leaves Tarnish Protection, 2 Cloths

These cloths are great for touching up lightly tarnished silver but if it is heavily tarnished you'll spend a long time and elbow grease getting them clean.Instead use the French method to clean your silver. Referring to the pictures I posted, start with boiling a kettle of water and line a pan with aluminum foil. Sprinkle a layer of baking soda on the bottom of the foil and arrange the tarnished sliver in a single layer trying to keep separation between the pieces. Sprinkle a good amount of baking soda over top of the silver (pic 1). When the water is boiling pour it over the silverware making sure the pieces are submerged (pic 2). The baking soda will react with the hot water, foam and fizz, and cause an electrolytic action that will move the tarnish onto the aluminum foil which takes about 15-20 minutes. Once the water has stopped fizzing remove the pieces and rinse with warm water. Give a light polish with a damp microfiber cloth (pic 3). Take the Goddard's cloth and finish the polish to a shine (pics 4&5). These pieces were tarnished almost black but I was able to get them to a high shine with this method and using the polishing cloth at the end will help retard tarnish in the future.These cloths are better then the old Ritz cloths I used to get at Publix and will last a long time even when they look dirty. They also polish my antique chrome appliances and copper cookware to a nice shine.

First of all, I bought this cloth to have a little extra shine on my nice flute, and to polish my old one. This did an amazing job, making it very clean and shiny- and getting off some areas that had started to tarnish. The cloth is bigger than I expected it to be, but it isn't huge. I tried to put up a comparison using a bath and body works hand sanitizer, lol! I haven't tried the cloth on my older flute yet, but when I do I will upload before/after pictures if I can.But tonight, I decided to use it on my necklace that had a pretty bad tarnish on it. It went through swimming pools and showers and eventually lost its shine. But after using Goddard's polishing cloth for five minutes on the charms (yes, I timed it, lol!), they were back to their old, shiny selves!There is one downside though, but it is normal for polishing cloths to do this so I didn't take off a star. It gets pretty dirty when polishing, but you can't wash it because the polish that is on it will come off! However, I still have a lot of clean areas left, so I should be good for a little longer.

These cloths are big and work very well.

I keep using these to clean jewelry and the towel gets black and dirty but the jewelry doesn't seem to get a more shiny and clean. The jewelry gets a bit more clean but overall it's not so great. The towel is getting pretty nasty with black marks and so you have to look for clean spots. I think this was not such a great buy and I am going back to the cream cleaner. It's a bit more work but at the end the jewelry is shiny and looks new again. This is a quick fix if you are running late and need a quick buff and a bit of cleaning. However, it's never going to replace a proper cleaning.

Big cloth so you get a lot to work with for necklaces. They are really easy to,work with and I love that they leave an anti-tarnish to keep you silver from oxidizing so quickly. I have silver polishing gloves, but they are very awkward to work with.

Great price. Came quickly. Product works well; nice not to bother with a polishing compound. (If working with a large and very tarnished item may need an additional method.)
