Nice speakers for the price
I like them overall. These are my first tower type speakers. Unfortunately available only in black. Simulated wood grain doesn't help much.Sounded tinny at first but realized I was hearing a much broader range of sound. I'm actually hearing a lot of sounds that I never heard before from music tracks I've listened to for years so impressed with that. The sound from these speakers seems to travel further than my old speakers. Yamaha 7 channel surround system with multiple old bookshelf speakers including Bose. These speakers sound good on 2 channel as well. Haven't heard any distortion yet. Plenty of bass for me. I like heavy metal, punk, electronic, folk etc, and I like it loud. $190 for pair Pioneer SP-FS52

Best budget floor standing speakers
Not much to dislike. Surprising amount of bass, nice wide soundstage, vocals are impressive, stringed instruments are detailed, and the treble is rolled off for nice natural highs. Nothing fatiguing, shrill or shouty. Needs a decent amount of power to really shine (100 to 150 watts rms). These are not meant to be used for a block party, or rave. But for the money they can get loud enough with no distortion. I have no need to play them any louder than 100 decibels. Great for stereo home theater or just for music. I do recommend a subwoofer or two, paired for home theater.

Look great and sound even better
I had these speakers in my cart, making do with small, bookshelf speakers as the front speakers in our movie room. When these went on sale, I bought, and they were shipped QUICK. There was nothing to the hook up and setup and 15 minutes later I was enjoying a richness and fullness to our system that is great! Well worth the dough, nice addition to our system, completely happy.

add on to my surround sound
These speakers are wonderful. I'm a base loving kinda person and this did not disappoint!I got them as replacement floor speakers for my surround sound system. I wanted an updated look that matched my current flow. I have not cranked them to capacity yet but it doesn't take much to get that kick you want. Got commercials even sounding great...lol

Great Quality!
These speakers preform great and do a fantastic job at reproducing music in this price range. That being said you do get what you pay for, but you will love the warm and natural sound. I would give these speakers 30-40 hours to fully break in. Great buy for the entry audiophile!

Overrated. Quiet, muddy and disappointing.
These were some of the most overrated speakers I've ever purchased. Everyone goes on and on about "Andrew Jones designed these" well, so what. I don't care about who's name is on the sticker I care about sound quality. Don't get me wrong, they are OK. For the price they may even be "good". They are definitely not impressive, effortless, musical, revealing or any other marketing nonsense adjective. They are power hungry (6ohm) and inefficient (87db) so forget about these if you have a weak (under 100w/channel) amp. They have two 5.25 bass drivers crossed over very low (250 hz) that actually start dropping off closer to 70hz and hardly do any real work. There is one 5.25 full range that does 90% of the heavy lifting. The 1" dome tweeter is so heavily muted by the crossover it may as well not be there. So, as you would expect the sound is small coming out of these. Highs are nearly non existent, mids are there but unsupported and flat. Bass is shy unless you pour on the volume or have a boomy track. If you have nothing to compare them to, hook them up and they sound ok, a little soft and flat and lifeless so you move them around a bit and go re-read the glowing reviews and shrug your shoulders and say to yourself "these must be so clear I can't even hear them." Wrong. Pack them up, send them back and get some Sony, Polk or Dayton Audio cheapie but goodies that will make you want to turn on your stereo and listen to music not fiddle with your EQ trying to get back those guitar solos, keyboards, vocals and cymbals that you know you've heard before on other speakers.

No other choice for the Money.
Was looking for a modest price speaker for third set up. After hours of research I desided on the pioneers. At this time of my life I could easily afford to spend more. And most times you get what you pay for. Not this time, shocked at the sound for the price. If you only want to spend a few hundred or less, there is no other choice.

Sounds Great!
I used these speakers with an integrated stereo amplifier to connect to my TV. The sound is superb, better than I expected for the price. Highly recommend!
