Best migraine relief so far!
My husband unfortunately is a migraine sufferer. He gets them at least 3 times a month and they can last anywhere from 3 days to about 7 days. He is under a doctor's care for this and is on prescription medicine to keep them from not happening so much. The medicine is also supposed to shorten the duration of the migraine. Even with all of this he still suffers. We have tried other types of gel packs and other therapies to remedy this. None has worked very well for him.We found this headache hat that is actually a nice wrap. It has small gel packs that freeze in them. They are removable and easily inserted back in the hat. As soon as I received this hat I placed it in the freezer so it will be ready when the next migraine strikes my husband. Sure enough he has had another migraine and we were able to test out the hat. It has a cloth that you easily attach to the inside so that it is not so cold. It does not cover the top of his head. It is black which is nice because it blocks out the light. The light is always a problem with his migraines. I had him lie down on the couch with it on. He told me that the hat felt light given the fact it is full of ice cubes and the material felt nice also.He was able to keep it on for about 30 minutes although the instructions suggest 20 minutes on then break. We flipped the pack over after he took a short break from it and this time he fell asleep with it on. That part is unusual as he usually does not sleep well when he has a migraine because the pain is too bad. His migraine only lasted the better part of the day verses several days like in the past. According to my husband this is the best relief he has had so far. We will keep this in the freezer so that it is always ready for the next go around. This headache hat comes with complete instructions and a bag to place it in to store it in your freezer. There is a cloth insert that you attack to the hat so that the ice will not be too cold. It can be removed as the ice packs start to unfreeze. It rolls up or folds up easily so that it fits back into the bag. It blocks the light while wearing it to help the migraine go away. There is no leaking mess that comes with regular ice packs, and the ice cubes stay cold for quite a while.

Effective migraine cap
Works well, lasts longer than a soft gel.....but it is not colder as some have suggested. That would defy the laws of physics.....they are both in the same freezer, maintaining the same temperature. I have 5 soft gels (from 2 different vendors) and now this ice cap. It definitely takes longer for the ice cubes (for lack of a better term) to melt than the soft gel. I would say the soft gel is 10 to 15 mins of use whereas the ice cubes get me 20 mins or more (at the very most). It is nice that I can flip this hat over and continue as long as I am only wearing over the forehead and not all the way down. If wearing it over the eyes, then all ice cubes are touching you so all will melt evenly. Having said that, even when flipping the hat, the top cubes have already started melting for the past 20 mins, so it will not last as long after the flip. I really only have one complaint, and one warning. First the warning -- the ice cubes will create pressure points at first until they soften a little. This is painful for me when the migraine is strong, but it only lasts between one to two minutes, so I do not bother with a towel layer like some have stated. My one and only complaint is that the storage bag is too small. It is literally a struggle to get the hat into our out of the bag. If you have a migraine while trying to do this -- it quickly becomes a nightmare (since everything is more difficult with a migraine raging). Really? For the price of this hat we could not afford five more cents for a larger bag? I have used this hat 4 times now. Three of those times my wife had to get the hat out of the storage bag for me since my migraine was raging at the time. I have never had this problem with any of my soft gel hats. I do wish the velcro had a larger area. The velcro looks like it is pretty big, but I guess my head is small - it almost does not fit. This is not a complaint though, just an observation. None of these issues are large enough to remove a star. I will probably but a 2nd one of these in the near future....I just need to find a workaround for the silly small storage bag.
