The best book on dealing with loss of a child
My husband and I have hosted grief support groups in our home for over 11 years. We have done extensive reading on the subject of loss. The Worst Loss by Barbara D. Rosof is the best book we've found on dealing with the loss of a child. Our first child died over 40 years ago and we know that the personal stories that were shared helped to convey truths of how such a loss can affect a person. I connected so well with the stories that I cried many times. How I wish that I'd had such a book many years ago when our child died and we thought we might go crazy. Ms. Rosof's professional experience helped tie everything together to form a guide of how to get through the loss of a child. Grief is hard work. Time alone does not heal. It's what we do during that time to work on our grief that enables us to heal.

I'm glad it was there and offered some solace
I felt this book was very insightful and at times comforting. Although, I wish I never had to buy it, or read it, I'm glad it was there and offered some solace.

Great book
In the process of reading this with a grieving parents support group and everyone likes the book so far. We’ve had some that have really been un-helpful or insensitive. Not finished but this one has sparked great discussions and everybody likes it.

comprehensive look at personal grief
I have read many books since my son committed suicide on his 27th birthday. This book is helpful in that it looks at all causes of the death of a child, not just sucide, but murder, accident and illness. This book can be helpful not only to parents, but siblings. This book was very helpful to us during our grieving. It is well written and well researched. There are many cases discussed, which gives you the feeling that you are not alone, and that what you are feeling is a normal part of the grieving process. Very helpful.

This book is fantastic. It was such a play-by-play manual for me and my husband after we lost our daughter ( eight-year-old that died of brain cancer ). I have purchased it for other bereaved parents and it has helped them as well. You couldn’t have a better resource at your fingertips.

Worst Loss
Firstly I'm so sorry for everyone who has left a review, unfortunately be belong to an exclusive club, that of child loss, the club we never wanted to join. This book is one of the best I've read, it deals with, death due to illness, sudden death, murder, suicide, stillbirth. It talks about how the death of a child effects everyone in the family, how it can effect relationships, and how it can effect your other children. As a parent I never imagined I'd ever be in a situation like this, until my beautiful 15 years old son was killed. This book tells it like it is, it's very honest and well written. To any other parents who find themselves reading this book, i send my love.

A very reassuring and helpful book
From reading the first few chapters I could tell this book was good as it described so much of what we are feeling now. I knew I could trust the advice to come later on. Clear, realistic - often hard-nosed - and helpful. I shall return to it in the months to come. Don't try to read this book too early - we started it about the 13th week after our beloved daughter's death.
