Strength for Tommorow
I liked the fact that the author referenced the Bible throughout his presentation of the subject. I would recommend it for friends and relatives. I recommended a five rating because the book genuinely assisted me in my understanding of Christian belief.

Full Sweep of Doctrince in Concise Presentation
What a valuable service this little book provides! Milne has the rare ability to present complex ideas in concise yet fully accurate ways. There is no polemic for any position other than that which is unabashedly orthodox - and yet he covers some hotly contested ground (see the table of contents) with refreshing honesty. This book is very heavily footnoted with scripture within each section of text, and each chapter is followed by references to least a dozen works by scholars who have more thoroughly expounded the varying viewpoints. I found myself reading with my Bible open in order to verify Milne's exposition and I never found a single instance of scripture twisting.Milne has opinions, but these are never shoved down the reader's throat, nor presented in such a way as to belittle other views within orthodox faith. Rather, Milne gives the scriptural support for each position AND also the scripture and interpretation which might mitigate against that position - even his own. Should the reader desire more information, the scripture in each section and the reference works at the end of the chapters provide a very good start. Each chapter is also followed by discussion questions enabling the book to be used easily in a class discussion.Milne also handles the cult and unorthodox position very well. He does not ridicule, but condemns frankly from scripture.

After reading this book you will be smarter
I wanted too know and understand more about Christianity Dr. William Lane Craig said this book was a good place to start he was right. Who could argue with Dr. Craig and win the argument lol not me or any atheist. Reading this book will increase your understanding of the doctrines of Christianity and put you on better ground to defend the faith.

Helpful guide to the Christian faith
I think this a wonderful book for anyone who is seeking more information on understanding the Christian faith. A person can read the information presented and compare that with the Scripture references provided. I also like that after each section of the book is a section entitled "Application" where a person can see how the information presented is of importance to everyday life and how the information should be understood and applied to everyday life. A person is also able to study more in depth by locating some of the publications listed in the various bibliographies listed after each chapter. This is a very thorough informative guide to understanding the basic precepts of the Christian faith.

Solid intro text to theology
A solid intro. to theology from a Calvinist perspective. It was gratifying to see Milne in dialogue with recent scholarship in natural theology; his chapter on general revelation was all the better for it. Too often theologians leave their reflections on this topic to Anselm, Paley and Aquinas, perhaps unaware of the impressive revival this field has undergone in the past forty years or so. Kudos to Milne for his inclusion of it! :)Why four stars instead of five? To be honest I would have liked to seen more interaction with contemporary christian philosophical theology. It seemed to me that some questions were left hanging that could have been addressed if Milne had included that voice (e.g. his treatment of the Trinity, the atonement, the inspiration of scripture, our sense of the Divine and more). Also, the tone of his writing... one can tell that the man is a pastor, lol; much of it sounded suspiciously like a sermon. That's part of the problem though, it seems to me. At times it seemed to me that Milne asserted his points or proposed answers to problems that felt contrived and ad hoc. For example, on the section regarding inspiration, he suggested that believers, in the face of hammers of biblical criticism, may rest confident that the scriptures are indeed inspired via the inner testimony of the Holy Spirit. I do, in fact, grant his point but, as I noted above, his case could have been helped tremendously if he had been more conversant with contemporary philosophical theology, perhaps, in this instance, with Plantinga's Reformed Epistemology. The lack of the latter together with an tone that, I felt, gave short shrift to deep questions is the reason this book deserves four stars, IMO.

Great Introductory Systematic Theology
The content is informative, accurate, and concise. Within some chapter, there are thought provoking questions under the heading "Further Questions" and each chapter ends with Scripture passages, study questions, and a bibliography.

Best concise theological handbook I’ve ever had
I’m a C&MA pastor. Had this book at Bible College and it is excellent. Lent it out and lost it somewhere along the way so finally bought a replacement. Bought a copy for our church library too

Doctrine.
A good and basic presentation of Christian doctrine. There are more in depth books available but Milne is sound and gives a good framework to hang your pegs from. It's a useful book for helping in sermon preparation.
