Great product, strips are easy to use... technique is important
This is a great product. I have had consistent results. Reviews that I see for this product which talk about readings being inaccurate may be due to poor technique in many cases. For example, your finger has to be clean and grease free. You also should not be squeezing the blood sample out of your finger as this changes the composition of the blood sample your are squeezing out and can provide inaccurate results (eg. you are also squeezing out oils on the surface of your finger, etc.) You also need enough blood sample to analyze (albiet it is still very small... just a drop). The technique that I use, and I think is easiest, is applying the blood sample directly to the test strip rather than using the enclosed capillary tube, which I find isn't always easy to use.

Great Product!!!
Been using these for years and very reliable. I had my first CardioChek unit go bad because of a leaking battery but seller replaced me with a new unit. When I got the new unit I set the date to 1989 so my test strips will never be "out of date" these strips last much longer than the seller will tell you, short Exp date means more sales but it's a bit of a scam. You could use these strips up to 6 months or more after the exp date and maybe longer is stored properly. Compared it to my hospital lab several times and my Dr said it was close enough. You can test your blood twice and not get the same results either lab or these strips. Our blood is just not 100% the same with every tiny sample! Do the tests right and carefully follow the directions and you'll get great results too.

Great for someone that is phobic of having blooktests.
There's not anything I didn't like about this product. I will be buying more. The only thing I wish is that they would 35 or 25 at a time. A lot less expensive then and would still last a long while.

Reliable results, everything you need is included, short shelf life
I bought 2 of these because I thought there would be a learning curve and lots of errors. The good news first:1) Very easy, so I got it right first time2) Everything you need is included (i.e., lancets)3) Reliable results (the whole reason for having a monitor) I would say plus or minus 5 points, maybe even more accurate than that. The bad news is that I bought these in August and they expire in December. So I'll be testing my cholesterol a lot over the next 4 months. :)

On the fence
Of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL, these seem to be most inaccurate. I am having trouble reproducing results on same day. Trying to get stable results that match LabCorp results from last week. One tip...discard first drop of blood and use second drop for testing. It says this in meter manual, but I initially missed it. I also recommend fasting even though they say it is not required for total cholesterol.

Accurate and reliable home test strips
Cardiochek's cholesterol test strips are a must-have for your own private uses to monitor your cholesterol levels. Using the strips with Cardiochek's portable blood test device will accurately display your blood level results in one minute. It is simple to use and painless when using its plastic siringe (located inside the box) to draw blood. My cholesterol is 226. :( (That's what I get when I make too many trips to Dunkin Doughnuts but who can resist their coffee cake muffins and boston cream doughnuts)Even though my level is borderline or tad high, I'm just very satisfied to find both Cardiochek's strips and test device fit my personal needs for monitoring my cholesterol levels right at home. Happy to make this purchase and you won't be disappointed if you do the same.

a stupid strip
it is actually a color response paper, something like one used for measuring pH value. it changes color with different cholesterol levels and the stupid CardioChek Portable Blood Test System measures the light reflected from the paper. This is a an idiotic method compare to other strips available in the market that uses resistivity of the strip.I do not recommend this strip and CardioChek Portable Blood Test System.

I can't tell if these things are good or not
I can't tell if these things are good or not. The problem for me is the little flimsy goofy eye dropper blood sucker upper thing. It has a line on it that you are supposed to suck the blood up to, and then transfer it to the strip and put the drop on a little well in the strip. It would be nice if they included a few extras. There's just one of each thing. Stabbing my finger hurts like a mama! I won't hold that against them though. Gotta get to it somehow. So I put the little sucker upper thing in the drop and it sort of goes up the tube. Here is what I've learned. DON'T SQUEEZE. Somehow blood got all sucked up into the bulb and when I squeezed it out to try again it didn't totally empty out and then it was sort of in, out, in, out, but I could never get it just to the little line. So I just took some and put it in the little well. Apparently not enough. I got all kinds of different readings. So I used up a few of my stabbers and suckers. I had to go buy some more stabbers. Those hurt like a mama too. But I never could get enough blood. I went through about 10 of them. Ran out of fingers to stab. Bottom line: I used up everything and never got a good reading.
