Great Game
A little dated now, but was definitely ahead of its time.

Great Game!!!!
Great game! I'm a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit etc so I really wanted this game. I was hesitant in buying it initially as other reviews had said that if you want this game, get it on PS4 or Xbox One as the graphics etc are nowhere near as good (I've only got a PS3). Yes, the graphics aren't as good but they aren't worse than the Batman Arkham or Assassins Creed franchises. The load times are rather long, but they are bearable. There are a few glitches here and there, but not a reason to not buy the game. Don't know if anyone else experienced this, but during the last couple of campaign missions, where there are quite a lot of enemies to deal with, it did start to lag quite badly, which when you need to counter attack is really annoying. But overall, a thoroughly enjoyable game. I'd recommend getting it regardless of any criticisms. I hope they make another in the future.

Would definitely recommend
Other than a criticism of loading times, this game is flawless. Adopting the best elements of Rockstar's Batman series, Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed and Bethseda's Skyrim, Shadow of Mordor has an engaging story with the right amount of repetitive gameplay in order to perfect and master movements, but not enough to become boring. Would definitely reccomend

Shadow of More Wasted Money
I bought "Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor" shortly before switching to the PS4 console. It is the worst PS3 game that I have ever played. This was made around the time that many developers were focusing their efforts towards making the jump over to the PS4 and in this title it shows. You play as Talion (voiced by "The Last of Us" voice actor Troy Baker), a man who loses everything before being killed and possessed by another soul. How did you come to be brought back to life, who is inhabiting you and what is your purpose. All of these are explored. The game is incredibly sluggish, bug-filled and just plain terrible. It is a complete and utter waste of money. Having said that (and having played the PS4 version), the story does not take that long to play. The game is dynamic in that each Orc has a boss higher than them. Each captain or underling has different fears and immunities which present a challenge to kill or exploit those fears. Of course, the easy way around is to possess all the underlings, thereby avoiding killing them in order to get to the boss. There are only 2/3 different areas and the game will load between them, rather than passing seamlessly to another area. The main bosses are simply a button-mashing exercise and the final boss is no exception, making an easy end to a somewhat difficult game. This seems to be another game, like the newer Tomb Raider titles that simply require the pressing of a button in a cutscene to end the game, rather than a difficult boss battle. Additionally, if you are hoping to see Lord of the Rings characters, you will be sorely disappointed as the only one to make an appearance is Gollum for a few of the missions. If you are thinking of getting this game, I would advise that you buy the PS4 version. It far exceeds the PS3 version. The best option is to not buy it at all and get a better game or a better console.

PS3 Neglected
This game holds so much potential yet was very disappointing in terms of gameplay due to the neglect it gave to previous generation consoles. Whilst the story is convincing, is appropriate to Middle Earth lore, the gameplay itself was ruined by long load times, poor graphics and bad animation on some cutscenes. Albeit that maybe my console is too old and the hard drive or graphics card is failing however if not so then it seems the Monolith/Warner Brothers have totally neglected the old generation of consoles which is frustrating to those who cannot afford the next big thing write away but want to enjoy the game. Overall a game with great potential but very disappointing in the general play.

Excellent game. Hours of fun. An interesting story line. And lots to do in this open world game.

È un must have
