Veiu - Video Doorbell (Monitor & Wi-Fi, Video, Motion Detection & Night Vision)

Bought to monitor and record anyone coming to door as well as having a remote doorbell viewer.Setup is very simple - took about 10 mins to install in place of existing peephole and system setup about the same. It all worked with no issues including remote access from the app.Motion sensor works well - doorbell press activates app and you can answer/talk or just view.Internal rechargeable battery - so far its been running a week and capturing a lot of motion alerts and I have viewed it from app a lot and its only used 10% battery - so battery life looks very good.So for those features it works perfectly - if that's all you want.BUT - I bought to enable me to capture who was at my door activated by the motion capture feature.This is where is lets down for what I'm sure could be a quick firmware fix but was told by support this would only be available in a newer model - not with this at allThe motion capture only collects 10 seconds of video (not detailed in any specs I saw).... this is not configurable at all and far too short to capture any "incidents" that you may wish to be recorded...After some tests I discovered that if motion continues, it will capture 10 seconds every minute until motion stops...As a workaround, once a motion alert is discovered and alerted on my mobile - you can go into live view mode and do a screen record on your mobile - but this is not ideal and means you have to actively respond to the alert.... very frustrating for this motion recording feature to only do 10 seconds every minute.... more so that there are no intentions to make this configurable through a firmware update.Another annoyance is that once you view an alert on your phone you can delete it with a choice of removing locally also - but locally only means the internal 2gb storage on the device - as I have a 32GB sd card installed and save images/video there - this isn't classed as local and thus nothing gets deleted from the device.Despite the above it is very good at what it does - and although I was going to return due to the recording limitation - I haven't found anything else that comes close to this - so have decided to keep and deal with the limitations.

This doorbell never really worked properly, support was non existent and it finally gave up the ghost at 2 years old, stopped turning on and the company don't care.Absolutely avoid like the plague. Even when it did 'work' it randomly decided when it wanted to alert you to someone ringing the door bell and was intermittent with the pir sensor alerts too.
