I recently bought this to replace another 4x4 matrix switch (from a different manufacturer) I owned that had gone faulty so I already had the cabling and setup. The setup was straight forward and you can set the EDID to be fixed across all the displays, but not on a display by display basis. It mentions an RS232 interface and they provide a program and a breakdown of the protocol if you're in to that. The program allows you to switch the displays from a computer, but it must be connected via the RS232. I was hoping that the software would allow me more control over each port, but it doesn't.For the majority of users you'll use the supplied remote control to change the input and output HDMI configurations. The remote requires two key depresses, so for example if you have your Sky HD box on input 1 and your TV on output 2 you'll press the Input 1 button and then the Output 2 button and the matrix switch will do the rest. I use a universal remote and it has macros so I could easily set this up on a single button. In my configuration I have identical universal remotes in each room but programmed differently for the matrix switch so there's no confusion. For reference this is what I use  One for All URC7960 Universal Smartcontrol Remote The switch works well and when you switch input sources on one TV the other TV's carry on without any interruption. My previous switch would always have a slight flicker on the other TV's when you changed any other display. Very pleased with it so far and competitively priced.I have some long runs (over 10 metres but below 20 metres) so I also use some HDMI amplifiers so I get full 1080p without any "twinkles". This device sits at the end of the run and I use a short 1 metre cable to connect to the final display.

Super reliable 4x4 hdmi matrix. I'm running 4 screens from this unit all at 1080p and all via 10m kabledirect hdmi cables with no need for amplifiers etc. Also works perfectly with my harmony elite remote to automatically switch between screens and input sources. Highly recommended unit.
