Loved it!
I liked the book Josephine as well as Belle. I did not buy them under their other titles as I had been waiting for them to come on kindle. I wish she would do a book about Jeremiah Morgan so we can see him find love as well. Very happy to have finally been able to get them both. I am an adult new to Beverly Jenkins books and I thought this was a sweet story. As Jo was young I am glad they did not have sex or have any heavy groping or petting. I am liking all of the history I am learning from her historical books.

Yes!
I have owned the paperback Belle and Josephine for years, but never read them. For some reason Belle started popping up in my book list, so I bought them both. What was I waiting for? Both books were very exciting, while being very sweet. Ms Bev you have to revisit and give Jeremiah a story.

Absolutely loved the storytelling by Ms
Absolutely loved the storytelling by Ms. Jenkins. She took an era in history, gave it intricately developed characters with complicated, yet enduring personalities. While integral to defining the time, she was able to make the Civil War secondary to the thrust of story which was the lives of those who were not at war, but who were connected because of the loved ones who were away fighting, those who returned emotionally and physically wounded and the lives that continued to evolve and progress out of natural ecosystem of human life. And it included sub-stories of love, betrayals, doubts, confusion and resilience. Life's stories powerfully reflected in words.

Nicely done!
I fell in love with Jojo in Belle, so I was so happy that she got her own story. Love, love, love that she ended up with one of the Morgan boys! Loved that we got to see Miss Trudy find love, too.Loved everything about this book. And the ending was perfect. I'm gonna miss this crew! If you are a Beverly Jenkins fan please don't miss this one!

Good book.
This book is well written with a good story line. I made the mistake of reading this book first. It was interesting to revisit how courting was done then versus now. There are some men today like George who believed a woman's place is in the home instead of working or owning their business. Trudy was a card and I was glad things worked out for her. There was a happy ending for everyone, Jo,Adam, his brother, and the Best family. I love this author.

Beautifully done!
Another Jenkins’s hit! This is an empowering story that connects us Black women with our roots. We are more than our hips. We are descendants of strong men and women! And I message to our daughters to expect to be courted by men. And respected! It will pay off with true love!!
