It’s a 1 Gallon volume bucket, that means by volume it contains 128 oz capacity but the weight of the oats is less than that of water. 128 oz volume of water will weigh 128 oz (8 lb) but that’s not true for most other substances.

Q: how long is the besst buy date go to?

I’m not sure, but certainly not the same month I bought it. I had three days left of February, and it said good by 02/2020

Not mfgr...but should be multi year if seal maintained in coolish conditions

Q: How long is the unopened bucket good for?

Seriously, it depends on how dry you can keep it. A few desicator packs can go a long way. This the same as any store bought oats, except in a plastic container. Maybe a year if you keep the humidity down, and store in a dry place.
