Q: does it feel "shakey" at all when you are cleaning with this while the arm is fully extended? Is there any type of grip on the end to hold onto?

It is shaky at certain angles when extended. You can use it as handheld without the long handle.

Q: will it clean hardwood floors without scratching?

I won't recommend to use it on hardwood

Q: The manual does not state. How do I extend the pole and I have tried everything. I’m not sure if my product is broken. How do I extend the pole?

Hello yes there is a small black plastic piece on the connector extending pole you have to move it to one side, then you can extend it.
