Star Trek: Picard: The Complete Series [DVD]

As a trek fan all my life, and having loved and watched trek as it aired on TV in the 80s to current The next Generation has always been my favorite. The show in the 90s ended great, but their movies didn't get the ending the original cast got, a sign off as you will. This show gave us a bit more. I enjoyed the first season, it got us back into the life of Jean-Luc Picard and his troubles. Season two took us into an era we knew about, but not a lot of how it started. Season three was our sign off. Everyone back home at the table one last time for a season that served up the old fun of having them around. The little comedic jabs, snarky comments and plain fun. And seeing that big beautiful ship in action one more time I can tell you chokes me up EVERYTIME. If you enjoy Star Trek, like the TNG era Trek you'll love this.

Excellent series

The first thing to note about Star Trek: Picard is that its strength is also its weakness. On the one hand, the production quality of each episode exceeds that of the original series, by far. In fact, some of the episodes, especially in the Third Season, are of film quality. The flip side is that there are very, very few episodes in each “season.” Indeed, there are only ten shows per season whereas there were normally 26 episodes per year in the 1980s and 1990s. Each season reflects its own arc, so watching one episodes in isolation makes no sense whatsoever. Having said that, if you are a Star Trek fan, you simply cannot skip this series. Provided below is a summary of each season that does not really give away any of the delights or surprises of the series. Season One was all about Picard reconciling his childhood and integrate his newfound knowledge into his understanding about how it affected him throughout his life, especially in matters of the heart. Season Two inserted more adventure into Picard’s life by bringing in fan favorite aspects like time travel, the Borg, and Q. The time travel is “back” to 2024, so that makes for some easy comparisons. Season Two also featured the return of some older characters. Season Three—the final season—is all about Worf becoming the most comedic character in the franchise. Seriously! On top of that, Season Three featured the reunion of most of the characters from the Next Generation series in a romp of space including a variety of Kobayashi Maru predicaments. Finally, each season of blu-rays provides extras, gags, etc. For each season, there are about 2-4 episodes with commentaries by actors, directors, etc. The commentaries in the third season are particularly enjoyable, as the actors let loose and you fell like you’re crashing their premier viewing party.

Three seasons with mixed results. The first season was very watchable, and great to see some of the old crew. I liked the season story arc, I prefer that over individual story episodes. The second season plot was stretched thin and I thought poorly written. Kind of reminded me of a soap opera. The third season was a banger where everything came together. This season was Star Trek done right. Just when they got it right they ended the series, what a shame.

It was great to see everyone from STNG! The best part is they were not just going thru the motions! They all took this endeavor very serious and therefore we got a very good show! The special effects showed just how far we have come with television as they were simply phenomenal! The story line was intriguing and kept you on the edge of your seat anticipating what was next! That makes for very good television! Standouts were seven of nine I mean how can you not like Jeri Ryan! Todd Stashwick was very good as Captain Shaw who seemed to not care one bit if Picard and Riker were legends of Starfleet! The children of the gang are also very effective in the story and were a plus! Not going to give away anything that is going to happen so you need to just pick this DVD up! It is the last season as Patrick Stewart has staed he is not up to another season as he is in his eighties! This may be the best spinoff so to speak of Star Trek I have seen and I highly recommend you check it out! Great job guys as it is obvious how much you all put in to making this and I really appreciate the effort! It shows!

Loved it. Added some history, some questions, and brought more to the verse. Recommended for fans!

Refreshing story to touch your heart. Being a TOS Trekkie and TNG follower, really brings out the memories

La calidad de vídeo es muy buena, también el audio... El paquete no tiene nada que lo haga tremandamente especial, pero el diseño de la caja y discos está bastante decente... No decepciona. aah y si tiene subtítulos en español latino.

Die Bewertung bezieht sich hier nur auf die falsche Produktbeschreibung. Angeblich sollen mehrere Tonspuren, unter anderem auch die deutsche Synchro vorhanden sein. Das ist nicht der Fall, es gibt nur die englische Tonspur!

As a Trekkie, I wondered if I'd like this series but it is incredible. It was criticised for the slow pace at the start, but I liked that as it built the back story to the characters and set the scene well. I liked the contrast of slow to the faster pace later on, and if I hadn't read the crits I would have been none the wiser anyway. I totally loved it: the depth, the characterisation and the development of the characters from previous, the storyline, the layering of meaning, fantastic and exceptional acting, script, sound, lighting, costumes, make up set - everything. Worf is, in my view, uber exceptional. More than the sum of its parts. I want to watch it all over again - and will.

Para mí fue una gran decepción recibirlo, ya que en la descripción del producto decía tener doblaje al español y subtítulos, además de otros idiomas y solo viene en inglés, tengan cuidado ⚠️ Por supuesto lo regrese.

I liked the 3rd season, but did not think much of the first 2 but still enjoyed it.
