Salewa Women's Firetail EVO Mid GTX Shoe

Great looking shoe and appears to be very nice quality. I haven't worn them on any major hikes yet so durability is yet to be known for me. One of the most comfortable boots I have worn. I also own some Lowa boots and I tried them on with one brand on each foot. Both were very comfortable. The Lowa boots are a little wider in the toe. I have skinny feet so I find that Salewa boots fit my foot a little better. The Salewa boots have a little more of a tapered toe which fits my foot perfectly. I normally wear a 9.5-10 depending on the shoe (mostly 9.5 unless the shoe runs small) and the 9.5 fit me perfectly with the perfect amount of toe room. Lastly the shoe looks cool too. With the design I feel like my foot doesn't look so big. I really like how stylish the boot looks. I had originally gotten these for a back up pair to my Lowas to keep in my vehicle during the winter. I like them just as much as my Lowas so not sure which ones will be the back up now.

Girlfriend is very happy with them after 4 hours of varied terrain use. She wears 7.5 in normal shoes, I ordered 7.5 and it's a perfect fit--neither swimming in them nor having her toes bump the front when trekking aggressively downhill. Very lightweight, she can jog in them on flat sections of trail quite comfortably. But denies feeling rocks through the bottom, so just the right amount of sole stiffness for day hiking here in Virginia's blue ridge mountains. The ankle support and vibram rubber soles give much more security than her former trail foot wear, old running shoes. Just got 'em today. Here are my first impressions:On size: I'm a little surprised at how wide and long this shoe is. I wear a woman's 11 in hiking boots and these are a little roomy for me in 11. I added the extra insoles that are for "narrow" feet and they feel pretty good! There's enough room that I can (and probably will) purchase some more comfortable aftermarket insoles, but the provided insoles aren't bad at all.On comfort: if you love pillowy Merrels these aren't as cushy. But they are VERY supportive and stable with a wide, grippy heel base. The ankle cuff is padded and comfortable, but if you need a lot of ankle support these might not be for you.On lacing: The climbing lacing is great. You can really customize your fit while giving your toes room to breathe.Overall, I love these! They're comfortable and supportive with a nice, grippy Vibram sole. They're pretty cute without sacrificing any function at all. Great toe protection. Feels like a combination between a trail runner and a boot.I do have a concern about the laces (feel a little flimsy) and the fabric tabs that hold them up near the toe. If those tabs go, the shoe will be useless. I just wish they were metal, as I kind of fear that I'm going to rip them off when I'm tying the shoe!I will update this review when I've had an opportunity to test these on trails and in water! Hope the Gore-Tex performs well and that they wash well. If there are no issues for a few months I may update these to 5-star!If you can get a good price on these go for it!

I love these boots. I was in the uncomfortable situation of having to buy brand new hiking boots right before my scheduled hike up Half Dome and was worried about all the troubles that new boots could cause on such a long and challenging hike. I need not have worried. I walked 14 hours comfortably, including some pretty steep up- and downhill sections. I even had a previous blister that I did not feel all day. The Vibram sole offers awesome traction. The only small complaint I have is that after just a few days of hiking I have some fraying of the soft material right around the rim at the same spot on both sides, suggesting that the quality of that particular material (which makes up a very small part of the padding) may not be of the same quality as the rest of the boot.

Bought these after trying on about 50 pairs of shoes and boots trying to find the perfect 14er companion. I returned shoes that were too light duty and hefty boots that were overkill. I saw these and got a feeling. I took a chance and ordered them without trying them on. I got my normal size 8. The boots are super comfortable. I could have gone with the 7.5 but I like that the toe box is a little long to allow for swelling and steep downhill hiking. They fit well with the narrow foot bed but I have a wide foot, so that's nice. I will probably put my down under foot beds in them for long hikes and I will have the perfect Colorado 14er shoe! Very happy with them!

These shoes are extremely comfortable and easy to adjust. I did a walking tour in Scotland in them and they were great (I went with these because I were an ankle orthotic for drop foot and they worked best with that). They are lightweight but provide good stability and great traction. However, my huge complaint is they are not remotely waterproof. I did one two hour hike in the rain and my socks were soaked- no river crossing or puddle jumping, just rain. I expected far more from a product with gore-tex.Fortunately, I live in Colorado where that should not be too much of problem for the rest of their use, but beware if you are looking for a truly waterproof boot this is not the one for you.

Ich schreibe diese Rezension nur da ich mir die Schuhe bei einem anderen Händler gekauft habe.Ich bin völlig zufrieden mit den Schuhen sie sind sehr bequem und geben den Fuß Platz. Obwohl sie neu waren bekam ich keine Blasen, normal bekomme ich sie meistens da ich sehr empfindliche Füße habe und mir daher immer die schutzpflaster in aufbringen muss aber da diese Schuhe beworben werden dass man hier z.b. keine Blasenbildung bekommt habe ich die Pflaster natürlich weggelassen und festgestellt dass dies wirklich der Fall ist man bekommt keine Blasen. Ich kann diese Schuhe im Sommer sowie im Winter tragen im Sommer sind sie weder schwitzig noch nass da keine Nässe eindringen kann. Ich bin auch am Strand unterwegs und hab sie im Wasser getestet und sie waren dicht. Im Winter gibt es andere Einlagen die man bewenden kann ich kann sogar dickere Socken anziehen ohne dass der Schuh zu eng wird da die Schnürung schon sehr weit vorne anfängt so kann man die Schuhe nach seinen Fuß anpassen. Auf jeden Fall lohnt sich das Geld für solche Schuhe auszugeben da auch der Griff bzw bei unebenen Geländern einen sehr guten Halt hat

Ich trage normalerweise 39,5 und habe diesen Schuh nach den Empfehlungen in Grösse 40 gewählt.Habe genug Platz, auch mit dicken Sokken. Der Schuh ist sehr leicht und macht daher Füße auch nicht müde.Angenehm zu tragen, eine gute Kaufempfehlung.

Also ich bin diesmal sehr enttäuscht von diesem Schuh!Ich hatte mir vor gut 1,5 Jahren denselben Schuh in Anthrazit (in einem Sportfachgeschäft) gekauft und mich über die neue Farbauswahl gefreut und ihn nun in hellblau bestellt, da ich nächstes Wochenende meine Alpenüberquerung starte.Ich war nun mit meinem neuen Schuh (zum Einlaufen) 2 lange Wochenenden beim Wandern und dieser ist jetzt schon in einem schlechteren Zustand, wie mein altes Paar!!Besonders der Unterschied vom linken zum rechten Schuh macht mich stutzig. Der rechte Schuh gibt meinem Fuß kaum mehr Halt, da ich ihn gar nicht mehr enger schüren kann und er fast 1cm weiter geworden ist, im Vergleich zum linken. Auch haben sich starke Falten im vorderen Bereich des Schuhs' gebildet und beim rechten Schuh löst sich dort auch schon etwas die Verklebung des Geröllschutzes ab.Also entweder habe ich ein "Montagspaar" abbekommen oder es handelt sich vielleicht gar um eine Fälschung?Ich werde in Zukunft lieber wieder die 40€ mehr ausgeben und in einem Fachgeschäft kaufen...bin nicht zufrieden und kann keine Kaufempfehlung aussprechen.

Robuste, resistenti, comode. Le ho usate per fare ferrate, sui ghiacciai in estate, sulla neve in inverno.. resistenti all'acqua. Io mi sono trovata benissimo e le ricomprerei subito. Consiglio una mezza misura in più, così la punta del piede non batte mai sulla scarpa, ma questa è una mia considerazione personale. Ottimo prezzo amazon.

Nachdem ich wochenlang Produkttests gewälzt habe, gehörte der Firetail zur "engeren Auswahl". Für meine Bedürfnisse (zwei Wanderurlaube in alpinem Gebiet) der perfekte Schuh - ein echter Allrounder. Macht Schnee, Regen und Matsch problemlos mit - ohne Sturz und nasse Füße. Die Passform ist optimal für meine sehr schmalen "Problem-Füße"; ich habe super Halt und einen sicheren Tritt und das bei sehr wenig Gewicht an den Füßen. Des weiteren ist dies der erste "hohe" Schuhe seit langem, indem ich mir keine (bei mir sonst obligatorisch) Blasen gelaufen habe - weder beim EInlaufen noch beim ersten Härtetest. Auch optisch bin ich zufrieden - im Gegensatz zu den oft klobig anmutenden vergleichbaren Exemplaren sieht dieser Italiener recht "flott" aus.
