Veramonte Bookshelf, White Wash/Black

I really like the way this looks, the shelves are sturdy, and I can store a lot of things on it. Very utilitarian but also nice looking. It took us a little over an hour to put together.The reason for the low rating is that I thought it was unsafe. It would twist when I tried - not a lot, but enough to make me nervous about putting a lot of things on it. It seemed to be put together properly. We were careful to follow the directions. We tried to tighten everything again, but it was the same result. We hadn’t attached it to the wall yet with the harness it came with because I did not see how that was going to do much good; it was very flimsy for such a heavy item based on what I read online as well. I called the manufacturer and was told no one else had reported any problems.Also, the cardboard box it came in was in tatters and was ill-suited for shipping such a heavy item. Nothing was damaged, however.I didn't want to go through the trouble of returning it and I thought I would like to keep it if I could make it safe. I hired a furniture repair professional to secure to my wall. I did not mind spending the extra money because I thought the item was inexpensive. Had it had better securing hardware it would have been worth more money to begin with.The professional confirmed my suspicions about the stability with such height and an open back, and that the harness it came with would not help make it safe.I'm really glad I kept it with this solution. But I think it needs to be safer so I can't give it a higher rating as is.
