I watch way too many knife-making videos, and let’s be honest—I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. But hey, I justified my purchase with the classic excuse: “I can use it to sharpen my lawnmower and tiller blades, and all my knives!” As a novice’s apprentice, I’m basically the awkward kid in shop class who can’t figure out which end of the hammer to hold.So, I decided to buy the Model 1, 3-in-1 Mini Belt Sander. I don’t know why I was nervous about using it; it seemed simple enough. Well, the buffer and sander are pretty self-explanatory, but that grinding wheel? Let’s just say it takes a bit of getting used to. I tried it on a machete, and let’s just say my grinds looked like they were done by a toddler with a crayon. But hey, practice makes perfect, right?Bottom line: my limited knowledge doesn’t exactly qualify me to judge this product like a master craftsman. But as someone who values their hard-earned cash, I can confidently say this is a great product—perfect for any budget and compact enough to squeeze into my cluttered garage, which I like to call my “wannabe workshop.”I’ve been using it consistently for the past month, and it’s still holding up like a champ. So, if you ever need a sander that can handle a novice’s mishaps, this one’s got your back!

this little knife maker/blade sharpener tool is just straight up awesome and easy to use to the pint it's addicting. I can help but take all my friends knives every week or 2 and sharpen/buff em up for everyone 😁

Easy to set up and works as designed. This thing is very small though, it works for me but I underestimated exactly how small it is.

I purchased this grinder and sander unit with the hopes sharpening lathe tools but due to the amount of vibration that is not possible. I purchased this unit over other mini bench top grinders because the addition of the sanding belt. In hindsight for the cost I should have gone with a Harbor Freight unit or similar. I tried getting rid of the vibration several ways. First, I noticed the vibration was much worse with the grinding wheel than without so I inspected the grinding wheel on a static balancer. I built a custom balance plate for the grinding wheel and aligned it using the balancer. This helped a small amount but not enough to keep items from rattling off the top of my toolbox. Next I noticed that the sanding belt assembly was badly misaligned. I squared, agitated, and tuned assembly until the belt stayed steady in both forward and reverse. The extreme vibrations continued. I then noticed the while unit was mounted to the base plate by attaching the motor to the sanding bracket at one end. The bracket plate was then bent and attached with two screws to the base. The sanding bracket would flex with the weight of the motor and vibration. When adding the weight and centrefugal force of the grinding wheel then the vibration compounded due to the lack of rigidity in the mount. I also observed that the motor has a built in bearing on the danger side but no such bearing on the grinder side. So I designed and 3D printed a mount that encased the motor, braced the sanding assembly and added an additional .5 inch bearing to the grinding wheel output shaft. I machined a a new grinding wheel mounting adapter to hold the wheel and fit the bearing. After assembly the was an overall reduction in vibration but the grinding wheel output shaft still had so much vibration it would cause the adapter set screws to loosen and was not safe to attach the wheel. Overall for me, a waste of money for use. But I'm having fun trying to make it better because I don't like picture puzzles. So this is no longer a tool purchase but a rainy day project. I will now go buy one of the mini bench top multi-grinders with heavier assemblies, proper bearings, and true outputs.UPDATE: The company contacted me of their own accord and gave me a full refund. They did so without asking me to change any of my review or for any accommodation's on their part. They told me they have become aware of the vibration and taken steps to address it in future versions of the product. I feel that this is excellent customer service and frankly was surprised because I it was unexpected. As such, I am not buying this product again BUT I will look at this company again when purchasing consumables such as belts and wheels. Should I need similar equipment again I won't hesitate to consider this company. Well done fellas. Well done! Small and it works just fine

It looks bigger in the picture. The instruction pamphlet is a size comparison and it's smaller than the pamphlet. For 66 bucks I didn't expect much, but you can't use this safely without tearing your hands apart.It's a good gag gift, but if you're serious about knife making go out and buy a real belt sander. This is a joke!
