This looks OK for turning a fried egg, or a pancake, but how does it do with a burger loaded down with cheese and onions, and the like ?

I have had this spatula for over 10 years. It slips very easily under a fried egg to turn it without breaking the yolk. I have used it for cookies, brownies, and all manner of baked goods. I have also flipped and picked up burgers with it - not on a grill but in a skillet. I never make burgers that weigh more than a quarter pound, and it will pick up a 1/4 pound cheeseburger no problem. This is the best spatula I have ever owned. It is so thin and flexible, I keep thinking it will surely break, but 10+ years later it is still totally intact and I use it a lot. I'm going to order one for my sister and my best friend.

I just got this item in the mail, and it is slightly bent, is this normal? If you look a the front head on, I notice that the edge doesn't lay flat.

Yes, It is normal. That slight curve tends to add a little stiffness to an extremely flexible blade. I have used mine for a year and am ordering another today. Perfect for 10 inch iron skillet or griddle. It has never bent the wrong way and dumped the food. Someone asked about burgers. I haven't done burgers, but I do think it is up to the extra weight as opposed to eggs or pancakes.

Is this item made in the USA?

It doesn't say where it was made. I have long since thrown the packaging away. Best bet would be to contact the manufacturer to find out where it's made.

These are fansastic

Not for use with non-stick unless you are very careful, but for omelettes, burgers, steaks, pancakes these Oxo turners are the best. Have both the medium and the large.

The Ultimate Flexible Turner BUT with a handle not reasonably resistent to heat

I had one of these for at least eighteen years. Somebody broke it using it to force open a door they were locked out of (don't ask!) and I was so upset. It is the ultimate turner because it is so thin and bendy. Excellent for making fried eggs because even if the edges are frizzley and stuck to the pan, this implement will be able to easily get under it without damaging the egg. So I HAD to obtain another and luckily they still make them. I have been looking everywhere and have never managed to locate one from a business in UK and I was delighted to find one on Amazon. I had already bought a different replacement but missed my Oxo turner so much! Finally I have my new one and it is the most perfect turner ever.I bought three for my daughters too. And yes, good grips is an accurate description as it is made of material which is very easy to keep hold of and manipulate. Fantastic for making very thin crepe pancakes too! But my one big criticism is that the handle is made of something which melts easily compared with my original one. So this turner melts if it is left on the edge of the frying pan for even a few seconds. And I never have the heat turned up high. I had the same designed Oxo for years with no problem. I have always left turners for a few seconds while I am waiting for my breakfast to cook and I have had several different ones during my lifetime. I have never had one so unresistant to heat. Inferior materials to the original ones!!!!Consequently my turner has melted lines all down the handle now. It melts to the frying pan edge within seconds. This is a bad failing and unreasonably unresistent to heat. This is why I am marking it down
