but this product works great in my configuration
I use this product in conjunction with my dedicated Plex server at home. I cannot review HDHomeRun's interface since I use Plex for my live TV streaming and recording, but this product works great in my configuration. Once setup and connected to my network, I upgraded to the latest Firmware through HDHomeRun's website and then detected what channels were available. Pretty simple setup if you're at all computer literate.Overall highly recommended.

Plex and Live TV
My goal with this was to be able to stream my antenna TV anywhere I could access my Plex application. I combed through countless reviews before settling on the HDHomeRun Extend. I went with the Extend because it uses it hardware to trans-code the single, instead of using your plex server to do the transcoding, however this is only the case if you are using the HDHomerun software. To setup the HDHomeRun in plex was super simple, I pluged the HDHomerun into my ClearStream 4 Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna with Mount - 70 Mile Range and connected the Ethernet and powercable. I followed the included instructions and performed a channel scan. Opened up the plex server and selected Add LiveTv/DVR, the server found it with out any issue. Since I am running my plex server on QNAP TS-453A (8GB RAM version) 4-Bay Professional-Grade Network Attached Storage, Supports 4K Playback (TS-453A-8G-US) , I am resources constrained, even though I purchased the Extend version, plex using alot of local resources when streaming live TV, If i stream live TV to two devices, i use close to 100% of my CPU resources, and the transcoding takes up 85% of it. But if you change the resolution to lower it will works alot better, i tried using the HDHome Run Connect, and it does not have this option and will only play for a few seconds before freezing and buffing. So if you have a low powered CPU running your Plex Server I would suggest getting the HD Homerun Extend. The reason I am giving the HDHomeRun Extended 4 stars, is because of their native software, if you are using their software you can only watch live TV/DVR when connected to your local network, the software is not stable on my Windows 7 or Android platforms, but works good in iOS.Also with this bundle it comes with a slitter and cable ties and and extra Ethernet cable, there is already an Ethernet cable included in the box. It would be more helpful if there was a coax cable included instead.

Exactly What I Wanted
This device does exactly what I wanted it to do and then some. I needed something that would pick up all of my local broadcast channels and send them to my Apple TV. The HD Homerun Extend does that and does it well. Nothing could have been simpler than hooking up the HDHR and getting it running. I did so in less than 5 minutes. The high definition channels stream without a hitch and if anything are clearer and more colorful than what I was receiving on cable. I can now get out from under the expensive monthly fees charged by cable.

Works with Plex
I use this for OTA recordings, with Plex as my DVR. Plex found the device immediately on my network and the Plex configuration wizard was easy to use. I downloaded the HDHomerun app, but it's not necessary if you use Plex.Plex controls the HDHomerun video output stream, be sure it's set for 'highest quality'. The only downside is the video steam is a ;ts' format, I had to do use VLC to see what the actual coded was. One problem I'm having (the reason I didn't give it 5 stars) is the video file is correctly created, but is only a few KB. I'll see what their support has to say about it,

Love this TV tunner, pays for itself in no time.
I have been using the HDHomeRun Extend since January 2018. It is easy to setup. It being a network connected device, allows to to hide it away in my utility room and not have to run cables to my TV. You might need to buy a good antenna and maybe a cloud/network hard drive, depending on how you are going to use it. If you are not recording anything, then the hard drive is not needed. I canceled my cable due to the outrageous cost. I use this tuner with a cloud hard drive and love it. I have the software running on a 2tb cloud/network hard drive so I do not need to leave computer running to record anything. All recordings are saved to the cloud/network hd. This allows me to access and watch all my recorded shows from anywhere, via a cellphone, a tablet, a computer and even the Fire Stick (with the correct free app) that I take with me when I travel. As long as I can access my personal cloud hd, I can watch my recorded showes. The equipment pays for itself in only few months. After that, it is nothing but savings in your pocket. And NO, I do not miss that expensive monthly cable bill.
