Brings my South African wife joy to have a Braai in the States
My wife and I have used this grill a ton of times since buying it. We braai just about every weekend we can and will even meal prep chicken or vegetables for the week while we are at it. Now that I've found a place to get the larger lamb chops, we have really been utilizing this thing as much as possible. It's very sturdy but easy to take down and transport if you'd want; it is heavy though. The way the griddle and grating rotate around the pole works but the pole is getting scarred up from use. Hopefully it won't be a huge issue, so far it does work. Overall, if you are looking for an open fire grill, it works good and seems like it'll last for a long time.

Best open fire grill ever!
I had Weber grills for the past 10-15 years and was happy with them all. But when I was looking for something different, something simple but effective, I founf Kudu's Youtube channel and after watching a couple of their videos, I was in love with this grill! Very sturdy, simple to setup and carry around. Flexibility of switching between wood or charcoal whenever I grill is the best. Being able to carry it with us to picnic or other functions is a huge plus.

This is an impressive grill
I have not put it to use as yet, but the packaging was sturdy and protected the contents really well. The assembly was quite easy and I did not need to read the instructions. My only negative is that the tubes that the elevation tubes could be a bit more sturdy. I experimented by placing a 20 pound weight on the grill grate to represent a whole turkey and the deflection on the grate was significant (2 inches) I'll have more to say after I put it to use this weekend.

Very well made
Robust firepit. Will last a very long time. Although appears to be made in China, the design is USA and better made than average Chinese stuff.

Versatile; needs cover
Owned this for about a month; initially bought just the basic grill. then the cover. Have enjoyed using it. Couple of things....if you're keeping it on an outdoor patio, buy the cover since grill will fill with rain water and you need to dump the dirty water. The cover is OK, but quality compares poorly with cover sold by a competitor (The Grillworks), hence 4 star value. If you use a charcoal chimney starter, get the largest because my opinion is that the grill requires a significant amount of charcoal, even with wood. Curing/seasoning the cast iron pan requires a large oven and can be messy. I cured both inside and outside and it appears to be holding up well. You'll need protective grill gloves to adjust hot grill and pan up and down. Have not tested grill's limits, but it has been fun!

Needs grate under the coals for air flow
I like the concept but it really needs a grate under the coals to get adequate airflow other wise they tend to smolder . I don’t think it radiates heat like the old school Weber grills do

Love the Kudu. Really enjoying learning the technique of open fire cooking!!!
Really enjoying learning this type of cooking. Really love cooking on it as a grill, smoker(maintaining heat levels was tricky with TX wind) and cold smoking. love the Kudu!!

We received our Kudu grill yesterday and baptised it with a steak frites (steak on the lower lever, wedges of potatoes in the cast iron in olive oil). LOVE it. Super easy to setup. Had a charge for import & duty but Kudu was super responsive in getting back to us and getting that resolved. It seemed the only way to get a Kudu in Canada, so happy to have it in the yard now. Yes it is expensive (especially in CAD$) but it is well made and well designed. I had been cooking on the fireplace for many, many years, crouched down with an adjustable grate that was hell to adjust. I guess I paid my dues, I deserved a KUDU :)

We bought this as a gift for our son who likes to cook over wood heat. He was happy with the design and construction.

I was in a rush the day I ordered this item. My visual was accepting but when I got the item, it is a well thought out item but I live alone and know I would never really use it. I basically should stick to gas bbq because I live far to close to others. Large families that camp etc, now this is for them. I never doubt Amazon.
