Love, love, love these shoes!
So I have been wearing only ALTRA for almost 10 years now. I’ve owned almost every type, including their dress shoe, which I miss very much and wish they still made it. Anyway, this is about the TIMP. This shoe is outstanding and to me. It is much more comfortable than the Olympus and the lone Peak. I know it’s supposed to be the shoe in between, but I believe this is the superior shoe in my opinion. I wasn’t sure about the tongue when I first got it because it’s an odd shape and I figured that the low socks that I wear it would bother it, but it doesn’t rub my ankle or leg at all. It feels like there is extra cushioning in the shoe which is nice for comfort in long walks. To be perfectly honest after my last pair of shoes that I bought from ALTRA I was almost done with them. The Torins I bought fellas parts so fast. That I was sure they were my last pair. But I needed another pair and I decided I love this brand so much that I was going to give them another shot. And besides, I have yet to find another shoe that fits me as good as the. ALTRA do. I cannot heap enough. Praise on how much I like this shoe and the size fit just as expected. These are the main thing I wear now walking or just going out in public. I have a pair of Escalante’s that I really like as well and I believe they are starting to get a little bit jealous because they don’t get worn as much. I am not a podiatrist I am just a blind guy who likes to walk with my elderly mother and do a 5K every day at least. I want to tell you I wore art supports most of my life because of my super flat feet and since I have been wearing. ALTRA I have not worn and arch support sense. I hope this review help you in your search for a new shoe and if this is your first time with this brand, I hope you enjoy it. Happy trails.

Best hiking Sneakers for Comfort, Durability, and Fit
I love everything about these sneakers (I originally searched for better shoes due to hip, knee, and lower back pain, and these have been the best for support and comfort). After trying multiple brands, these stand out as the best fit with a mid-cushion sole that perfectly suits my foot shape. Unlike other sneakers where my pinky toe eventually creates a hole, these are designed to prevent that. I used to buy wide versions of other brands but always felt limited in options—these eliminate that need. Durable for both hikes and runs, they’ve lasted longer than any others I’ve worn.

Very comfortable, but wear out fast
I love the comfort of these shoes, but they wear out very quickly. I guess that's a common trade-off. The toe box is nice and wide, which is great for anyone with forefoot pain or metatarsalgia. The heel cup fits great, even though the toe box is wide (on the normal width shoe, not a wide sizing). The cushioning is excellent, even more so than the Lone Peak (which is also very comfortable). The only downside for me is that they wear out very quickly. Everywhere. The tread, the top of the toe box material, the top sides where the lacing ends. Everywhere. And I am not rough on them. Mostly just do long walks. Highly recommended for comfort. Just wish they would improve the durability.

Great athletic shoe
Why did you pick this product vs others?: This is a phenomenal athletic shoe. As a foot and ankle doctor I highly recommend the Altra line of products. The wide toe box is a absolute benefit for people with any forefoot pathology. Great Construction, true to size and great fit

Go back to TIMP 2, please!
These are a good looking shoe, with a great heel loop, lots of lacing options, and solid heel support. As with my other Altras (15+ pairs?), they were ready to go out of the box with no break-in time, and an average of 10k per day on multiple surfaces. My Altra's usually last about 4-5 months, with a SuperFeet green insole... I'm 6'2" 205. However, these are falling to pieces within 2 months. The sole is slick, and my pinky toes are literally popping out. They feel much more cushioned than previous TIMPs, sacrificing control and balance. My last few rounds of "new" Altras have had the same durability issues, but not quite as bad as these. I hope they go back to their previous quality/price standards. I'm giving Topo's a try in the meanwhile.

Very sturdy and comfortable
I love the feel on the bottom of the foot as well as the fit around the foot and toe box. If I could take away half a star for the depth of my foot in the shoe, it feels just a tad shallow. Overall would recommend and purchase again.

Durability and construction quality issues
I've put literally thousands of miles on Altras, including several earlier iterations of the Timp. With the latest Timp 4, there seem to be noticable changes in durability and construction quality. The pair I'm reviewing have 120 miles on them, and part of the lugs on the outsole are flopping off because the lug part is delaminating. Never seen a pair of Altras do this. The front of the outsole is also covered with a fabric mesh, which I'm not sure the purpose of, but it's also totally shredded. Admittedly, 100 of the 120 miles on these shoes was a very rocky 100 mile run, but again, never seen a pair of Altras break down like this and I've put hundreds of miles on similar terrain on previous Altras. I contacted Altra to warranty the build quality issues but they refused to approve a warranty because I bought them here, "not an authorized retailer". I get it, but it's disappointing Altra refuses to stand behind the quality of their products. I could name any number of other outdoor brands that will return products with construction issues, no questions asked whatsoever.
