Teak Protector - Jati Brand Quality & Value

Great colour and easy to apply.

Teak garden furniture is great but my oh my does it take a lot of looking after, this will be my 4th or 5th product I have tried, none of which have lasted more than one year, for those they say Danish Oil is the answer, been there tried that, results after 12 months, disastrous, after 2 possible 3 years on neglect, I used Wessex 2 part teak cleaner and restorer, then this teak protector, as with all these types of products, it does change the colour of the wood from a straw colour to a honey colour, definitely wear gloves as it will stain your skin and is not easy to remove. The cloth provided is probably the best way to go if you are looking for a "perfect" finish but way too slow and difficult for intricate furniture, I used a brush but a foam pad or brush would have been better, you do have to be careful when applying this, watch out for runs, they will leave a lasting mark and be careful and patient when going over end grain, the key is not to let an area dry not even for a few minutes before you paint the rest of it, again if you paint the end grain then go back and paint the rest later, it will leave a visible paint line, this isn't any fault of the probuct, more the fault of person using it, only time will tell, is the sunlight evens the colour out over time, drying time is fast, very fast in sunlight and the second coat goes only much more quickly and easily than the first, overall I'm pleased with the results, only time will tell if it really deserved 5 stars, coverage wise I think you could get a table and four chairs out of a bottle, I'm guessing I will need a bottle and 1/3rd for my large table and six chairs, there are fairly large and intricate

I bought Jati Teak Protector as a water-based alternative to Teak Oil to protect and enhance the lovely Jati 4ft Gladstone bench which was purchased as a memorial . We found it easy to apply by cloth ( supplied) , as it is thin . A small brush was used in places where a cloth cannot reach. Just follow the instructions, you can't go wrong.The product enhances the natural colour of the wood and helps to preserve it without making it look artificial or feel sticky. Two coats were applied, followed by a third coat a few months later , then two further coats after the winter months.It is now getting on for two years since the first coat was done and the colour of the wood is pretty well unchanged . There is no sign of mould or greyness nor any unwanted buildup of the product . There is enough left for one more coat and I have already bought a replacement tin.We are very pleased with this product . We've noticed that benches treated with teak oil develop dark streaks under the surface, possibly fungal, but there is none of this with Teak Protector. Full marks again, Jati. Thank you.

Expensive as its coating an expensive bench. Rag goes very hard after leaving with the oil on it, and gets covered in the oil which if not careful wanders a bit. Be careful and it comes up well. A nice colour but for how long and how much protection u get, who knows.

great product, not cheap, but it covers my outdoor furniture so well. Very easy to apply, I actually use a brush not the cloths provided. The finish and durability is excellant, we are on our fourth bottle and infact have also bought furniture from Jati .Excellent does the job, so its worth the cost.

Gives the furniture a rich golden hue. Make sure to wear disposable gloves when applying as it can stain hands badly.

The vendor included a lint-free cloth to apply this to the teak furniture, so kudos to them / him / her.It's water-based so runs like mad, hence the cloth. Don't try to use a brush or you'll have splashing everywhere. DO wear rubber gloves - I used a pair of those thin, tight-fitting nitrile gloves but inevitably the fingers wore through, I didn't realise for a few minutes, and I'm still digging the solidified liquid out of my cuticles. Get a pair of heavy-duty Marigolds and you'll be fine.Application of the liquid to your average slatted teak chair and table is a pain, TBH. Working it into all the cracks and crevices and angles takes time and patience (and is how my nitrile gloves wore through) but the results are very good indeed. Dries in minutes, even on a cool but sunny day; and then - oh joy of joys - it's time for the second coat :-) .The liquid is a darkish brown liquid muddy colour and the furniture, after treatment, is a little browner than the raw wood but 'Er Indoors was chuffed and even made me a cup of tea so we sat on the now-dried chairs and drank it. Ah, the British summer! A few minutes sun and 10 Celsius, with a cuppa. What could be better?The next two nights, it rained heavily (told you it's summer) and the water basically just runs off. I'm very pleased with this fairly expensive liquid. To borrow another manufacturer's phrase it does what it says on the bottle.

Covers very well with very little fuss, very good finish and fast drying. Don't do what I did, and not wear rubber gloves, left with stained fingers. I think the best glove would be the sort would the ones you see in petrol stations
