Makes a nice matt finish and easy to apply
I have used this one a couple of Bandai Star Wars figures, most recently Boba Fett. I wanted something I could airbrush and use with a normal brush too.No need to thin, just use as is, but make sure you shake the bottle first, I have noticed it settles with a milky colour at the bottom if left standing. Now, a warning, use is it VERY sparingly and let it dry before another coat. I am using this to take the shine off the plastic, not really as a thick protective varnish or lacquer. Again, use very sparingly or you will end possibly end up with a frosted white coating on your model. I really like the ability to just use a small brush and touch in areas you need to as well, very easy. So a good product providing you dont use too much.

Product works well
I tried this many years ago. It dried to a horrible chalky finish. I read that the formula was changed and the product radically improved. This is true. This matt varnish is now excellent. It drys evenly. It needs a couple of thin coats to go matt.

AVOID unless you want a mildew finish to your models.
Really angry, bought this because Humbrol have a good name for paints. WHAT A MISTAKE. Having built a couple of tanks in 1/32 I painted them in grey black and the figures in tanker black, sprayed them with Humbrol thin gloss then decaled them, Just a matt varnish needed to finish them for display, thoroughly mixing the varnish, I gave the models a thin coat and left over night to dry. Next morning I FOUND ALL THE MODELS COVERED IN A WHITE MILDEW LOOKING COAT. Repeated attempts to remove failed except where there were decals, here the varnish came off, as did the decals. I am left no choice but to try disolving the varnish or respraying the kits and hope the new paint takes, of course the models wont be finished as the decals are gone, unless I spend even more money for after market. Be sure I wont buy Humbrol again.

Does what it says on the label. Dries reasonably quickly and doesn’t darken the wood too much.

I love this stuff. Easy to brush on. Self levels so no lumpy spots. Dries quickly. Can weather your models after using this. Highly recommended.
