This is an excellent bag
Unfortunately the bag was too big for our small car's roof rack, however, as other reviews have said, it's a seriously good bag for the money. I have returned it, but only because it was too big, and have opted for individual Dry Bags instead. I think the best review photo I saw was from someone who is using it in the back of a pick-up truck. It's most definitely excellent value for money, and for a certain purpose, it was just unfortunate that it wasn't going to work for my particular situation. I would however, not hesitate in buying the bag again for a different application. The double opening zipper was, as reported by others, easy to use and of good sturdy quality, with a weather flap that velcros over the zip for added waterproofness. As noted by another reviewer, you do need to make sure that the area where the two zippers meet is facing backwards if it's on a car roof, to further ensure that no prevailing water coming towards your vehicle sneaks in between the two ends of the closed zip, despite the weather flap's existence. Really, it's an excellent bag. The Amazon branding, by the way, points forwards and backwards, that is how you know which way around it goes on your roof. Also, it refolds easily and the storage bag, which is made from the same material, is nicely over-sized so getting the roof bag back into its 'holdall' is easy too.

Great, flexible, space saving option. Huge as well.
My family and I bought this for extra space in addition to a roof box we already have, and it was great. I used it for a week long camping trip and it was perfect for getting out kitchen furniture in - acting as a flat base to the bag, after which, we then put sleeping bags, various other soft items and camping chairs. There's a tonne of room in this, and due to the nature of it being a bag, rather than a rigid shell it was easy to stuff things in. We even had some rain on the way to our site and it kept our stuff perfectly dry. A great buy.

Great product, but straps a pain.
Used this on safari and it was fantastic, esp as it was quite wet enroute. However, the straps are very fiddly and different lengths which was a real pain. Eventually just gave up on them and used two ratchet straps which worked a treat. Knocked off a star for this reason.

Arrived as described, heavy duty material and straps. Perfect for out occasional need.
Arrived as described -works quite well. Took a bit of time to fit and load the 1st time - the buckles needed to be adjusted to length for my vehicle - wrapping the straps around the bars helped - good bit quicker the 2nd time. Good for a single long drive when you will be unloading at your destination. Not really suitable for touring where you need the contents every evening. Good solution for our once a year need for additional luggage carrying capacity to give the dog space in the boot / trunk. Much more cost effective than bars and a solid roof box and much easier to store when not in use. Best used with soft walled luggage as they can be squeezed in. Once filled and with all straps tightened and ends folded in was really secure on the roof between the longitudinal running bars (golf estate with stand off bars). Was water tight at 70mph on the A9 this week during heavy rain - be careful to install with zips to side and rear and use the velcro flaps to cover zips. I paired it with a non-slip mesh mat - to protect car roof and minimise possibility of slipping. All in all good value for what it is and met my expectations.

Very well-made and very waterproof. Made of tough material, not flimsy at all. Surprisingly roomy.
Product arrived very quickly, but that usual for Amazon. The bag itself is surprisingly brilliant. Like other reviewers, I sort of expected something fairly flimsy and "short-term-solution"-ish. It's actually brilliantly well-made. The material is very tough and thick, it's more like tarpaulin material than "backpack" material. It zips around 3 sides and opens like a clam. It fitted perfectly into our Streetwize Universal Roof Tray (120cm x 97cm) like it was designed for it. (We got that tray from Toolstation if anyone is interested, stick it in google. They pair really really well). Now, the straps... The straps are actually great. Really strong, well-sewn and tough. The buckles are nice and strong too. In my opinion, they are easy to adjust, BUT the key thing I'd say is that the first time you use the bag, stretch them all out to get them roughly stretched to the right length for your car setup, because it's this part that takes a while to sort out. I'd suggest doing this the night / day before you travel. When travelling time arrives, you can then throw the bag on, then put all your stuff in it while on the roof, close it up and buckle it on without having to faff with all the straps at this point. Once the straps are all about the right length, they are VERY easy to adjust once buckled and because there are 8 straps (2 for each side), they allow for very flexible packing. Point the non-zipped side forward into prevailing weather and it will be watertight. The zip line is really well covered by the zip cowl, which velcros down really well. It's really quiet on the move too if you tighten the straps taugtly. The bag rolls up into something the size of a deflated, folded up air matress, and has its own little waterproof bag with a carry handle, which can then be tucked into a cupboard or behind a seat in the car if need be. An absolute bargain for the price. If you're thinking of getting one of these instead of a bulky roof box, definitely do it.

Can fit in a lot but no stable bottom and straps extremely short
Really liked that it was waterproof, sturdy, with ample room. Disliked that it was a real faff to position on top of the roof rack and had to use support structures underneath it (as recommended by another customer) to keep it off the roof of the car and give support. The straps are ridiculously short and wouldn’t go round the entire length of the roof rack bag. So I strapped them on the sides of the roof rack instead and used spider straps to go round the entire bag so it prevented forwards and backwards motion. Was a little concerned leaving it on top of the car overnight in our stay at a motel on the way to Scotland but the padlock i put on it kept our clothes safe. It stayed out better than I thought it would and was very waterproof! Overall reasonable value for money the but the strap issue is a pain!

Great for extra space and easy to install.
I don't leave many reviews but felt compelled to on this product, as I spent ages researching various roof bags. Background - we have a 14 month old baby plus dog and like to go on holidays in the UK. So space in our Nissan Qashqai is at a premium with two adults, car seat, buggy and space for the dog. We originally wanted a box for the roof, but had no place to store the box when not in use. Our Qashqai came with side bars (and a panoramic sunroof) and we bought Hardcastle Aluminium Cross Bars (135cm) from Amazon which are great and good quality. We originally bought a cheaper bag because we didn't want a huge bag on the roof, but when it arrive the handle snapped on the carry bag so sent it back and ordered the Amazon Basics one, which has so far exceeded our expectations. The quality is outstanding, the straps whilst initially are faddy (easier second time round because in right place) are good quality and you feel they will secure the bag. As we had a panoramic sunroof we bought Siivton Roof Mat to protect the surface, but I understand many buy one to protect paintwork. The bag sat comfortably between the two cross bars I had installed and strapped up tightly. Because I wanted added security, I also bought a set of Silver line Buckle Straps, but I think these were probably overkill. We packed the bag full of clothes which was easier to do when it was on the roof, we have some Amazon Basics Packing Cubes (and a set of cheaper versions for the baby's) which made the process even easier. We filled the base with these cubes and didn't double stack, because of fear of cracking the sunroof with the weight. We drove from Leeds to Norwich and back, traveling between 60-70mph and the bag did not move at all, it made no additional noise and you would not know it was there other than losing from light from the sunroof. It didn't rain at any point, so can't verify Waterproof, but it looks like it would be fine. My only concern is security when parked up for lunch and service stations etc. I purposefully positioned the zips in a hard to reach area and covered then with straps. I plan to buy a padlock for additional security.

Cheap Way Of Loading The Car
It’s a really inexpensive way of getting that extra luggage space when travelling. My partner and I, with 2 nieces, a nephew and dog loaded up the Ford Kuga for a weekend caravan holiday. It has masses of space, which is a bit of a downfall as it means that it can move around a lot and can’t strap it down as well. I only used the side bars on the Kuga, but I guess a set of Thule crossbars would help this. There is also an anti slip mat that can be purchased but I don’t know how well this would stop it from slipping. The fuller the bag, the more it will stay firm and in shape. The straps are strong - just make sure you tighten these as they will flap about. Also it is extremely waterproof. I went through an absolute monsoon. It was a typical Scottish adventure - 4 seasons in one day. The contents stayed dry. There was a slight bit of dampness on the front of my holdall which was pushed to the very front of the bag so would have got the force of the elements from being at the front. Luckily this was on the way home, but I don’t think my clothes would have been too bad if it were on the way there. I would recommend that you use an anti slip mat or crossbars to keep this secure. It comes with a nice waterproof carry case, we packed this with some stuff too. I would also recommend that you have a waterproof hold-all or backpacks to load it with.
