Prosafe 1000 TSA Accepted Combination Lock, Black

For my three-week trip to UAE and India, I was effectively hotel hopping and railroading across India. Goods lock are a must as every hotel I stopped at in India had no issue watching my luggage while I toured about. I needed a travel lock with a longer shackle and had success with a previous Pacsafe product and decided to try this out. For typical suitcase zipper locking, this lock is on the big side and while not heavy, the extra shackle space may defeat the strength of the lock. Also note that this lock is Travel Sentry, meaning airport security for countries in the system (mainly USA TSA) can open the lock with a special key and relock your bag without cutting the lock. Avoid using Travel Sentry locks for non-travel use when security is a priority. For my application, I used this lock to lock the laptop and cargo compartments of my Eagle Creek Morpheus 22 inch 2-in-1 suitcase. The shackle was long enough to lock each pair of zippers to the fabric latch point. On quality suitcases, these fabric strips keep a thief from puncturing the bag zipper with a ballpoint pen, stealing your stuff, then moving the locked zippers over the punctured track to re-zip the bag and thus make you ignorant of the theft. All this being said, remember that luggage locks on soft walled suitcases are theft deterrents at best, nothing more. When used as I described, someone would have had to conspicuously wreck my suitcase to steal from it, and I could have noticed immediately. The lock itself is well made: the shackle is sturdy and the plastic body feels good to the touch, like a quality product. To set the combo, one opens the shackle, pulls the bottom tumbler (where the TSA key goes) and turns 90 degrees. Twist the dials to your preferred combo and then reset the tumbler. To unlock the shackle, dial the combo and press the tumbler in (upward) and the shackle will spring out. To lock, press the shackle into the lock and listen and fee the "click." This is a positive locking mechanism, meaning the shackle with lock in place whether the proper combo is set or no, but naturally if you forget to scramble the dials after locking the shackle, any other idiot can simply press the tumbler to open the lock. One caveat about this lock that another reviewer here spotted dead on: If you get the first two numbers correctly dialed in on this lock, you can feel out the third number by pressing on the tumbler. To be fair, most three dial locks are similarly flawed. As such, I would not recommend this lock for extended unsupervised use (24+ hours). But I would say the same for any 10 digit, 3 dial combo lock. I was thoroughly satisfied with this lock's performance on my long trip and can readily recommend so long as you are aware of what luggage locks are for--DETERRENCE. c. Wandering by Installments

This lock is easy to set and easy to use. I put it on my backpack while I was traveling abroad, and no one gave me any hassle. You can see numbers from either side of the lock (front and back) but only one side is the right one to set the combination (there are small lines to mark it). That confused me for a moment, but then I got the hang of it. :)

This is a solid lock that works well. Setting the combo and changing it is quite easy. Im sure there are more secure locks out there, but to protect against the casual thief this will be more than enough.

Brilliant! So easy to set your own 3-digit code, really sturdy-feeling padlock for what I want to use it for which is through the hole on the Roobar lock on my Pacsafe Vibe 25 litre rucksack - I have to transport confidential paperwork and audio recordings, so I feel I've got the best system now!

Ich habe dieser Schloss mit die Packsafe Travelsafe als erstes bekommen und seit dem suchte auf der Internet. Es ist stark genug und bedienen ist auch sehr leicht. Ich reise viel und habe mehrere Rucksäcke. Alle hat eine von dieser cooler Schloss bekommen. Nur mit dieser fühle ich mich sicher, weil es Qualität ist.

This lock has excellent security features for travel. I love the push button on the bottom for added security, I've never seen that before! I'm always happy with PacSafe quality and this lock seems very well built. The plastic body is not a problem because it's high-grade plastic. The lock is a bit bigger than I expected from the photo, but that is a good thing because it is very strong and thieves won't have a clue how to open it.

when i first ordered this lock it unfortunately got mislaid in the post but, after emailing the supplier (who were really nice and helpful), i had the lock resent to me. It arrived within a few days. Very happy. The lock is a deeper red than the colour shown - measures 7.5cm down by 3.5 cm across there is a 2.5 cm gap from the top to the red casing (ideal space for the my husbands gym locker) the number dials on the front (a depth of 1cm each) are big enough to read and turn (even for a man with chubby fingers) - will purchase from here again thank you.

This lock seems a bit more solid (and offer more protection) than similar ones at the same price. 3 digit combination is easy to set, although the package did not come with instructions. A quick search of the lock brand, type & how to set combination, and it's easy to find the instructions.
