Hi want to use this on fibre plusnet.all my equipment is wireless fed up with sky router dropping out and not dealing with data transfere. suggestions

Short answer: Yes. I use the Fritz!Box 7490 with a Plusnet fibre connection. Long answer: If you want to get the best out of it, you need to make some config changes. Fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) is different to standard ADSL - and you can't just use a standard ADSL modem/router. When you sign up for FTTC (from any provider), you will be supplied with a FTTC modem from OpenReach. Plusnet will then offer to supply you a router that you connect to that modem. You should take that offer. When the OpenReach Engineer comes to your house, he will install the OpenReach modem - and if the connection light goes green, his work is done and he'll leave. Then, you connect the Plusnet supplied router to the OpenReach modem - and if that connection light goes green, you're on the Internet. If you want to replace the Plusnet supplied router with the Fritz connected to the OpenReach modem, then you can do that. Choose "External Modem or Router" in the "Internet Connection", in the "Account Information" panel. However, the Fritz is also a FTTC capable modem - so you can dispense with the OpenReach modem if you wish. If you want to connect the Fritz directly to the FTTC connection, you'll need to make some manual changes to the "Internet Connection" settings, in the "Account Information" panel. You need to set the username and password information as supplied by Plusnet; You need to set the VLAN ID to 101; You need to manually set the VPI to 0 and the VCI to 38; and you need PPPoE encapsulation. As a unit, the Fritz is reliable, stable, and has many good functions and features - I've used them for years. However, I strongly recommend that you keep the OpenReach modem and the PlustNet router, because if you have a problem with your connection in the future, neither company will help you until you can prove that the problem is still there with equipment they have supplied.Good luck!

can i use this with my virgin media fibrr optic broadband?

You will have to set the SuperHub into modem-only mode so that all the Superhub does is act as a cable modem (this is not the same as simply switiching off the wifi on the SuperHub). Then you need to assign the first LAN port on the Fritzbox as a WAN port, and connect that to the same on the SuperHub. What you have then is a setup with the SuperHub doing the work of a cable-modem only, and the FritzBox doing all the router/wifi/DECT functions but no modem duties.It is too bad that whilst AVM do make an equivalent cable model (6490) (i.e. incorporating a cable modem instead of the ADSL/VDSL modem of this model), Virgin won't let you connect it to their cable network.For the money, I'd have expected the FritzBox to incorporate a dedicated WAN port, as doing the above will cost you one of the four LAN ports. It is pretty daft of them to offer this model whose USP is the VoIP/DECT functions without a nod to cable users. All other ISP customers are forced to have a telephone connection and pay the line rental in any case, so they may as well use the supplier's POTS system anyway. It is really only Virgin Cable customers who stand to gain significantly from using VoIP. AVM - offer this model sans-modem please, add in more LAN/WAN ports in lieu.

Is it possible to connect a fax to one of the analogue outputs if I have cable broadband input?

If you use cable input, you will connect to cable modem using LAN1. This wil leave the DSL socket free to connect to the telephone socket. The Fax machine then attaches to one of the analog ports.This is a very messy arrangement, and it might be simpler just to plug the fax into the phone socket, maybe using a splitter if fax machine doesn't incorporate a phone.Although Fritzbox supports DECT and you may be thinking of using it as a base station, bear in mind that unless you shell out for the Fritzbox handsets you will have limited functionality. I found the DECT and iphone telephony to be not worth the trouble, the USB 3 port very slow (although trchnical support reckoned it may improve at some indeterminate future time with software upgrade), and having to keep the separate modem a pain, so I no longer use my 7490.
