Excellent little appliance. I worked with several pfsense hardware at work. I was about to purchase the SG-2440 for a friend's business when I came across this unit on Amazon. SG-2440 and this unit has comparable specs. However, the SG-2440 is priced at $499 while this unit is prices at $279. If you are familiar with working on Linux or pfsense, setup is a breeze.I pulled this unit out of the box, plug in the power, and connected my laptop to the LAN port. I did not even connect the appliance to a keyboard or a monitor. I logged in via the browser on the default IP [...] and did most of the configuration via the GUI. I got the unit routing and working in less than 5 minutes. There's so many thing you can do with this appliance. You can setup VPN, Proxy, web filtering, captive portal, DMZ...just to name a few. This unit is also capable of multi-WAN when you can load-balance or setup active-passive connection on the WAN side. So if you have DSL and cable modem, you can use the default WAN for the primary outbound connection, and group OPT1 with WAN for your secondary outbound connection. If the primary WAN connection goes down, it will automatically divert your connections to OPT1.The unit itself seems to be highly efficient. As soon as you plug the power in, you can get connected to the LAN in less than a minute. You can segment off your wireless network from your LAN using one of the OPT ports. Then create a rule to not allow the OPT interface to your LAN. You can also clamp down your outbound wifi connection to only allow certain activities, such as HTTP/HTTPS and nothing else. Setup captive portal so you can authenticate your guest and then cap the bandwidth on the sessions.So far, I have been very impressed with this unit....

This device was great. It ran OPNsense like a dream and was able to handle 1Gbit/sec of traffic, it ran a bit hot but only got up to 50C when pushing the interface limits. Unfortunately, the power cord failed after 3mo right outside of the device return and support window which is rather disappointing.

I highly recommend reinstalling pfsense on this device. After using this as-received I began getting a large number of notifications from Avast about sso.anbtr.com being blocked. Even after completely resetting my windows 10 machine with a fresh install, I began receiving notifications immediately. Various anti-virus and malware tools couldn't find anything... my other laptop on the same network showed notifications as well.The only difference here, replacing the verizon router w/ this firewall. I've since replaced the firewall w/ the verizon router, and so far have not received any notifications from Avast. I'll continue to keep an eye out, and will update this review if I receive any more notifications.At this point, I have to believe that the "factory" installation on this device is compromised.

The ideal box for a long lasting pfSense firewall. The price is great.My only concern is my wonder if the seller contributes to the pfSense project, monetarily or with code / testing. If not, this is the exact reason why open community projects like this go closed source.
