The down cut bits keep the wood from ripping or splintering at the top of your design. The trade off though is that it will back the wood chips into your path that it just finished cutting. If you have a dust collector attached with brushes it should keep the path cleared out pretty well though. They seem to have a long shelf life if you have your settings right and don't overwork or under work the speed of your router.

I do a lot of fine feature CNC wood cutting. I have tried the down cut bits for the first time and I am shocked by how well they work. So far in both cherry and walnut, the cuts are much cleaner. This is a bit of tool tech I've been overlooking for 15 years.

Overview: As a new hobbyist CNC operator I thought I would give these bits a try. They cut well with some limitations. For the money they do the job. Pros: Great starter bits: If you are new to the CNC game I would say that these bits are great for your projects. I have tested these bits on oak and pine. Small amount of tear out on the pine as expected due to the softwood. The oak had some tearout as shown in the picture. Construction: The bits seem to be well-built for their size and diameter. I did break one of the bits, but it was an operator error. Make sure your spindle is turned on before you run your gcode.... LOL Friction and Heat: I run these bits at 22000 rpm and have had no issues with friction or heat. The bit holds up well. Cons: Fine Detail Cuts: While these Bits perform well in general cutting tasks, I noticed some issues when doing intricate and fine detail cuts. These bits struggled to maintain the level of precision required for highly detailed work, resulting in occasional imperfections. Feeds and Speeds: I was not able to find the manufacturers recommended feeds and speeds. The manufacture should provide this information so the consumer can get better results. I did use other manufactures feeds and speeds recommendations and that might of played a role in the results. Conclusion: The HQMaster Downcut CNC Bits are a good choice for many CNC applications, offering somewhat clean cuts and durability. However, users seeking exceptional precision for fine detail work might encounter some challenges with these bits. Recommendation: I recommend the HQMaster Downcut CNC Bits for those engaging in general CNC cutting tasks. However, for users primarily focused on intricate and fine detail work, it's advisable to explore other options that cater specifically to those requirements.

It lasts long too! Clean cutting bit. Leaves flat bottom for its small diameter!

Good downcut cnc bits for the price. I cut a lot of MDF flags and they will last through 6-8 of the ‘‘em with a clean bottom. Wood projects last a lot longer, even running at high feed rates. Recommend to add to your Amana Spektra bits collection.
