Warts and all relationship book
Started off with a good premise, Jo and Harry meet at a dinner party where the hostess is trying to set Jo up with Harry's brother. Instead Jo and Harry hit it off and the next day go to Harry's family retreat - a holiday cottage halfway up a mountain. They make a pact to go back for a weekend every year and this they do for 10 years. Our knowledge of their lives together is gleaned from the problems they bring to the cottage every year.By the time we got to the final two years I wanted to just throttle Jo for being annoying and that is what made me give this a low rating. If I wanted a depressing book I would read a real life drama or watch a reality tv program.I guess the book is realistic about relationships and how they evolve and need to be worked at but it just did not hold my interestIt is not Fiona Walkers best book and if this was the first of her books I read I would definitely never read her again. However I have read all her books and for the most part enjoyed them.

Intense and thought provoking
First things first this is not a "bonkbuster". Take away the bonking ( and believe me in the first few chapters there is a lot of it in all types of strange places) , and you reveal a very intense novel about the intricacies of a human relationship. It is very thought provoking and a very cleverly written read that takes you from the exhilaration of a no ties carefree one night stand, and its mutual selfish sexual gratification, through a multitude of layers to the very depths of a relationship and what makes it tick (or not tick) with the progression of years and the interferance of every day life. It is cerrtainly not your normal Fiona Walker style but a really good read and now at the end of the book I feel that I really know the characters - but their emotions have left me feeling exhausted.

Another Wonderful Story!!!!
What fun, another unputdownable book by Fiona Walker. As always a wonderful romp, with delightful characters and situations and always a twist to the story. A new setting of a ramshackle cottage in the Shropshire hills was a real pleasure and Harry and Jo the two main characters made you so involved in their lives you couldn't wait to find out how the plot developed. Of course there is always a horse or dog or both in Fiona Walker's books and this story is no exception with Rathbone a very important character. Hate to finish her books as the wait is too long for the next one!!!!!

Intriguingly different and fresh
Really enjoyed this quirky and romantic tale about long term love and life, good and bad and indifferent. Great and real characters.

Loved the concept
I really liked this story told only through weekends, very original. Fiona Walker's writing is always fabulous and this is no exception. Highly recommend this book.

Ten years behind the scenes of a long term relationship!
I ended up liking this book! It's quite a clever idea;- to cover a relationship over a whole decade but by detailing just one weekend throughout each of the ten years.

my response to them being a mix of complete love of or total indifference
After reading 'Snap Happy' years ago, I have found myself drawn to new Fiona Walker publications; my response to them being a mix of complete love of or total indifference.

Depressing
This was such a disappointment and one of the most depressing books I have ever read. Have loved all Fiona Walker's previous books but this was just awful.

Disappointing.
Very disappointed by this book, I found it lacking in any real content, the focus solely seemed to be on the two main characters, sex, the holiday home and the pub and it was...
