Minuteman International Cast Iron Ash Dump, Black

I moved into a house with a fireplace. Its ash dump cover was falling apart, and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find one to fit properly. The measurements provided for this item gave me confidence that it’d fit my fireplace, and it does, perfectly! It feels like it will last a long time. Very pleased.

Perfect fit

Bought two different ash dump doors from different sellers because I wasn't sure if I had the sizing right or if any would have a defect when used. I have used both and they are both fantastic, so I will be using the same review for both of them: I have never had to deal with an ash dump door before. I was always Cinderella with my hair back and an apron manually cleaning the fireplaces. We didn't know we needed one until we bought the house and we were trying to figure out why the smoke was coming into the living room - fireplace is deep, so we couldn't initially see the hole in the fireplace floor. It was easy to just drop in. Solved the issue of the air displacement. Had bought a ash catch tray until it arrived to prevent any burning embers from going into the ash dump under the house. Great material, heavy duty. Highly recommend!

Heavy cast iron ash dump cover. Fit over the hole and stopped the giant draft that blasts from the dump (seriously, any time we'd have a slight breeze outside, the air would rush up through the ash dump and freeze the living room). It's not a perfect fit or seal but it stops the draft. One thing to note - be careful when flipping the lid. It's not secured to the frame and sits in a lipped groove. Only took one time of carefree dumping to find that it wanted to be swallowed up forever by the ash hole. Lost a star for that.

Replaced a cracked cast iron ash door with this unit. Perfect fit, easy to install, a little clunky to use. I've been using these pivoting ash dumps since I was a wee bitty firestarter, so I understand how to use them properly. While this one works, it is a little clunky once ash or soot starts getting into the edges. Minor inconvenience. Basically, does what it's supposed to and saved me over a hundred dollars from having the fireplace guy bring me the same unit.

It's always a question as to whether or not a product ordered on line will fit the location it is being installed. This door was a perfect fit and very well made. It took no time at all to install using some high temp caulking and overall this worked like a charm. Highly recommend this product.

Imagine my disappointment when I opened the package to find someone's old, broken, and painted to look new ash dump. The dump shows it's made in Cleveland, OH, item description says it's made in Taiwan, and the box says it's made in India (very difficult to make out since a label was over it). I returned the item for a replacement in which I did receive a new one that was stamped "Minuteman" under the door. Took off 2 stars for the bad experience and wasting time and gas money to return. The last photo is the new dump installed with my old one in case someone decides to claim I painted my old ash dump

Good quality, very heavy and works well. It didn't quite fit in the ash drop hole (but I was expecting that) but it worked after a bit of chiseling to the fireplace. Not universal as it advertises so make sure to measure your ash drop hole before buying!

Replacement for 60 year old chimney ash cleanout. Excellent product for the cost, masonry required to be modified to suit unit dimension.
