I'm sorry, but Tara Hammond's answer is demonstrably false. These should cost under $5.00 each, no matter where you buy them. On popular restaurant supply store We**, they're $2.59 each and it costs $16.60 to ship 24 of them. Another popular site Wa**, they're $2.92 each with $9.31 shipping for 24 of them. Even if one wanted only a few, they could be purchased for under $10 each, including shipping on other sites. I suspect the only reason they're so expensive here is that only one party is selling them here. It's not uncommon for restaurant supplies, though. Another restaurant supply Hu* sells items here for 2–3 times the price they sell the same items on their own website.

Q: Does this open hot popcorn bags?

It would probably work, but still would have steam escaping. I would probably use a scissors for that. This device is for opening a plastic food pouch, (think mayo or catsup) and then squeezing out as much of the product as possible to reduce waste.
