Good as a set of GHD's at half the price....bargain!
Was originally looking for a set of Remington Pearl straightners, after reading a superb review in Good Housekeeping magazine. Found a set on Amazon but offer linked to this newer version, so took a look. These were also on sale and offered brilliant value for money and came with a very high spec and a long 5 year guarantee, which really sealed the deal for me. All three of my daughters use GHD's and have had various degrees of success over the years. None of their sets have lasted anywhere near 5 years. These straightners are light and easy to use. Narrow blades give good access to hair near the scalp and a smooth action through hair lengths. I have very thick curly/wavy hair which is cut in a graduated bob and i use my straighteners every day to keep the shape smooth. As with other reviews i also noticed a plasticy smell when they first heated up but it's not so bad that i would say it affects my review of this product. I haven't noticed an increase in shine over the weeks i've been using them, as per the claim referring to Keratin deposits from the blades, but neither have i experienced a deterioration in my hair's condition. i love the fact that you can select a temperature to suit your hair's condition etc which i don't think you can with my daughters GHD's. Also there is a moisture sensor which apparently adjusts to moisture levels inside the hair shaft. Unfortunatly there was no instruction leaflet with these straightners but it's pretty straightforward. Can't think of a single downside so far.....price, heat control and features, auto cut-off and 5 year guarantee plus a heat proof mat, all for a lot less than GHD's, what's not to like!!! Plus they straighten just as well as all the leading brands i've ever tried...I'm thrilled to bits. What a bargain!

Damaged my hair 😡
My pair of GHDs stopped working suddenly after 4 years so needed to get a new pair of straighteners quickly. I had borrowed a great pair of Remington straighteners from my cousin for a few days, and I was so impressed I thought I'd try a pair for myself. Why pay so much if a cheaper pair would do the job??My hair is naturally curly, but I straighten my hair most days and use a really good heat protection spray that works really well on my hair. These straighteners are very sleek and look really stylish. However after using these straighteners for a fortnight it was clear that it was damaging my hair. I used the same heat protection spray I always use and my hair was breaking and becoming increasingly damaged with every use. My hair dresser even commented on how damaged my hair had become. I had to continue to use them for a while as I couldn't afford to shell out on another pair of straighteners so quickly.I ended up spending extra for a new pair of GHDs. I wish I had just done so in the first place. Please don't waste your money and damage your hair with these things.

Great results even at the lowest temperature
Many people have said these are better than GHDs, I personally have never owned a pair but I can say these straighteners produce results as, or even more, outstanding than GHDs.My previous pair of straighteners were by Amika (often present at stalls in shopping centres) and although I have been using those for many years now, these are a vast improvement. For example, heat up time is really as quick as it says it is (15 seconds on the lowest temperature) and it produced better results in a quicker time at 160 degrees than my Amikas at 200 degrees. Less time consuming and saves on the heat damage!I have, in my opinion, quite thick and frizzy hair and therefore wanted a straightener known for its great performance so started looking for GHDs. But after seeing the huge difference in price and little difference in features and reviews, I bought these and have not looked back since. A mistake I made was to start off straightening at the highest temperature as I assumed that would give the best results but despite the perfect results anyway, it left a horrible burnt smell in my hair for around a week which was more noticeable when washing. So gradually I went down to 160 degrees and have not had to use a higher temperature since or straighten a single section of hair more than once. Because of the flexible plates you can also curl /wave hair really well.It leaves static-free hair, no pulling and has a helpful 'bleep' when its ready to be used. Leaves a really nice soft finish to the hair without feeling like its done too much damage.Buttons are ok; it takes longer than usual to select the temperature you want because it automatically goes into the moisture sense mode when switched on and then you have to lock it into the desired temperature so there is no real simple 'on/off' feature to it. However, definitely worth the hassle for the price and results and only bothers lazy people like me! These buttons however also allow for more control over how its straightening hair, so its still useful. The pouch that it comes with is a nice way to store it and I often use it as a heat proof mat.Would definitely recommend this product if you're looking for a high quality straightener but don't want to pay for the letters GHD written on them!
